Someone at one of our branch used car locations (not even a REAL DEALERSHIP) got a promotion and now every congratulatory e-mail in my 300+ employee company is being sent to ALL STAFF.

So I marked it as junk, and reported it to the mail server.

YOLO

Always flag this shit as spam. Always. Reply all saying “Hey, do you know you are all using “Reply All”???”

Before a three day weekend someone hit reply all and started a spam storm that lasted throughout the weekend.

One brilliant guy decided to write something like “Will you fucking idiots stop hitting ‘reply all’?” but not before—of course—pressing reply all, and then he sent it. To everyone in the company. I dearly hope he was summarily fired.

You could always appoint yourself the QUIT REPLYING TO ALL guy.

Everyone loves the QUIT REPLYING TO ALL guy.

I work in a ~3,000 people company (actually 2,500 now as layoffs are big thing currently but I’m referring to past times). Around +10 years ago the email servers were still using quite rough method of sending emails to multiple recipients. And during those times one incident happened here.

Some lady had litter of kittens and she was trying to find a good home for them. She decided to send some cute pictures of the kittens to all company employees. Of course she had managed to scan the photo into an uncompressed high resolution .bmp file. There might have been several pictures but I’m not sure as I wasn’t here to witness it yet.

The email services of the whole company were down for couple of days as the server memory was totally overflown by the kitten pictures messages and their early replies (which were of course sent to all).

Why IT fail? Whyyy?

They want it so if they have a corporate group wide e-mail to send.... they can figure it out.

Along with disabling it, you also have the option of choosing who gets to send/reply to it. For example, allowing all managers and execs to send/reply to ALL STAFF DL while the end-users can’t. This will limit Joe Schmoe from replying “Thanks!” to 300 employees and filling up the server’s disk space. Managers OTOH would hopefully understand what they’d be replying to, and chime in when absolutely necessary.

Sorry... got my IT hat on.

Whoa, that’s wishful thinking.
