FOURZA Oppositelock-Tudor Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) race series is here! (Update*)

Kinja'd!!!

A Forza 4 based race car series, loosely based on the RL race series of the same name.

This race series is NOT a competing series for the upcoming Oppositelock Grand Am race series; it is being offered as an ALTERNATIVE option using modern race cars, for those that cant make the Sat. afternoon regularly scheduled Grand Am series due to scheduling conflicts.

It will also not compete with any other upcoming Oppositelock vintage style race series. Or its for those that want to do the Grand Am and Continental Tires series, and simply cant get enough of Forza racing. I love this game.

For the record, I dont believe in “re-inventing the wheel.” My philopsphy is “if something works, dont fix it.” Translation: For this series, we will use established rules and principals that have been set up in other Oppositelock racing series by folks like SVTyler, RoboRed, CoryCC97, and others. Therefore the same etiquette used in the Trans Am, GT, and upcoming Grand Am series will apply to the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) series.

If you want to join this series but aren’t already in the Oppo car club, mention that below and we’ll send an invite. We send out invites from the club screen on race days so if you aren’t a member you won’t get one and thus won’t be able to join the lobby.-SVTyler. If you dont want to join the club, you can also send friend requests to my GTs: Robluvcars1 or EricIsDaywalker.

Come one, come all, first come, first join. All are welcome.

Race dates and time TBD.

Anticipated Jul 17-19 weekend startup.

You vote on what race day and times are best options. Most races will be held at the chosen time and day. There will likely be exceptions, due to scheduling. At any rate, I will go with what the majority wants.

Pick one and post choice, from the following selections:

Fridays, 10pm (2200hrs) EST;

Saturday, 10pm (2200 hrs) EST,

or Sunday 4:30 (1630 hrs)EST.

Anticipated start date: Sun, 19 July, EST/US. 4:30 pm, (1630 hrs)

!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!

Series season is anticipated to be only 7-9 races long, and races to be 30-40 minutes duration. These are basically sprint races, as (the real series is for two and half hours) I am cognizant that people have lives and have other things to do besides sit in front of their XBOX all weekend. Get in, have fun, get your fix, and get ‘er done. The below track locations, dates and order of races are subject to change:

Sebring, 7/19/15

Infineon, 8/2/15

*Road America, 8/16/15

*rescheduled to 8/30/15

Maple Valley Raceway, 9/13/15

Sedona Raceway Park, 10/17/15

Sunset Peninsula Raceway (reverse)

Road Atlanta

Laguna Seca

Lemans or Grand Prix Circuit de Catalunya

Repeat, this will NOT conflict with the above mentioned Grand Am series or Classic Roadster series.

For the sake of conformity, clarity, and to maintain a unified league standard, established Oppositelock racing rules and protocol will be in effect for the series.

For details, see below race series info as established by Oppositelock Trans Am and Grand Am series administrator SVTyler:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!

The initial upgrades in this series will be specific to each car to ensure competitiveness is equalized in the field as close as possible prior to tuning and Balance-of-Performance adjustments. Please be aware that the upgrades for each car are required and non-negotiable. NO FORZA Aero allowed except where specified. These cars are fast, and can be tricky handlers, so suspension tuning is paramount. There will be no “Park Bench/Picnic Table” wings added as an ASSIST to ruin the beauty of the cars factory design. Leave the wings and downforce to the open-wheel crowd.

Method: Lots of testing was conducted with many variations for each car and the setups are as even as I could get them. They yielded lap times within 1-2 seconds when I tested them at the Grand Prix Circuit de Catalunya ( I follow and use the braking assist line in the game. I tuned the cars with NO ABS, but use the brakes like the car has ABS. Ex: I follow the yellow brake line, then squeeze and HOLD DOWN the trigger till the car slows down or locks tires while following the braking line apex through the corner). Of course you can tune your car as you see fit. This was just a note to anyone trying the sample the builds in the garage.

The Forza 4, Continental Tires Sports Car GS cars are @S620-S690. Sample builds are located in the club garage under GT: EricIsDaywalker. They have race livery, and painted over the drivers doors is my other GT: Robluvcars1.

LIVERY : * Update

Important. Please note: ALL Cars are REQUIRED to have a number on each side and the rear panel at a minimum! If you show up with a “Body in white,” you will be deducted 5 pts from the final position score. (ie; finish 5th, you get 10 pts for not having a number. See Scoring section below). Roof and hood numbers are optional. A manufacturers decal from the paint vinyl section of the Continental tires logo is REQUIRED (size .30 x .30 looks great). This should be placed on the front and rear bumpers, and over the front fender OR rear quarter panel above the tires on each side. If you desire (to use mine and not make them), the below 3 decal items are available at my Store Front for free, and will complete your race livery look:

1. A replica of the CSTCC number plate (downsize to .25), put on the front edge of each door. Then take the Continental Tires manufacturers logo (downsize to .14 x .14) and place inside the panel ( Required );

2. A GS badge (downsize to .20), place next to the number panel (Required) ;

3. The IMSA logo decal should be on the front and rear of the car ( Required ).

For clarity, my intent was for race cars should have a livery of your preferred design , however, in the spirit of replicating the CTSCC, lets put the above decals on the cars also. Apologies .

WHEELS: These are the following suggested wheels to use in the series. ALL wheels must stay FACTORY STOCK DIAMETER. When testing, all of these choices were about the same weight (-+ 4 lbs) which made it more consistent when changing other factors.

These are the wheels: Enkei RPF1; Wed Sport TC 105N; Fiske Profil 5.

CARS:

These are the only cars that will be legal for entry into the series:

In this series, as administrator, I set out specific build specifications for each car , then you tune it, and make the adjustments for your driving style. Also BOP will be allowed to equalize the competition.

Balance-of-Performance (BOP) Adjustments

The above mentioned upgrades are non-negotiable, depending on what kind of times you set, your car may feature more or less upgrades thanks to BOP adjustments. BOP adjustments will work same as they have in other Oppositelock series: A lap time is posted by me during the week prior to the race, and you take your GS car out for about ten laps and see how you match the time posted; if you’re lapping faster than the time that is posted, remove some upgrades (starting with tire compound and width so you can still keep up on the straights) and if you’re slower, add some. The ultimate goal is to meet (but not exceed) the posted lap time . This will ensure maximum parity amongst the field. BOP adjustments should only be used as a last resort and are not a substitute for practice. I know the point of this series is to give everyone regardless of skill level a chance to win but it’s not fair to the drivers who put in the time to practice and to actually learn the track to have someone who spent less than ten minutes testing during the week show up and blow their doors off with a huge power handicap.- SVTyler

SPORTMANSHIP : All racers are required to conduct themselves in a respectful manner. We are here to have fun, therefore joking, and the friendly competitive ribbing associated with drag racing is OK. However, extensive profanity, name calling, fight words, and any behavior that that is inappropriate will cause you to be disqualified and banned from the series. (Unrelated. I once ran a Forza 4 drag race series; see the below link if interested in a drag series for a future series- !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ) This part is a deal breaker and non-negotiable. The current core group of racers are a knowledgeable, friendly, fun loving, competitive, group of racers. We have fun, we get along well, and we dont take this GAME too seriuosly. We like to win, but also realize that there is “next week.” There will be some inevitable contact between cars. If egregious, that contact usually will cause tempers to flair. If you dont feel like you can compete without exibiting azzhat behavior (BMW drivers), do not come in and ruin everyones race with the childish tantrums. There is zero tolerance. Stay away. This is not “tool time,” and I will ban you from the series (just jking about Beemers).

All participants are expected to follow !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and you’re going to have to be OK with the fact that contact will happen no matter how hard we all try to avoid it. Having the cars be as fair as they are means you’ll constantly be in traffic and battling for position and a bit of rubbing will be inevitable, as will more serious incidents. There will be races where you’ll get knocked off track or spun out by no fault of your own and you’ll end up finishing in the back of the pack that week; anyone who’s raced online will know that’s just a part of the game and these series will be no exception.-SVTyler

- That being said, there’s a very fine line between incidental contact (tapping someone’s rear bumper under braking, running a bit wide through corners, etc.) and aggressive and dangerous driving (divebombing corners, running people off the road, deliberate contact, etc.). Please don’t do any of that, drive smart and drive clean and you we’ll all have fun racing.

- All relevant information (including pre-race, post-race, and other miscellaneous posts) will be posted at around 6pm EST here on Oppo and tagged ‘Fourza’; I hope to get my post-races up on Monday or Tuesday and have the pre-race post for the next round up around the same day the week after. Any other questions just post it on the thread to Oppo using the same tag or reply to us directly and one of the braintrust will eventually get around to answering you.

- Hopefully, we can get !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! or someone to stream races again via his !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! so even if you can’t race with us you can still watch the action. RoboRed also has the Vintage series, so be sure to check out !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! too.

Race Info:

Please wear a mic/headset. That’s how we communicate in the race. Use it to minimize accidents when passing.

Time:

- Since it seemed to work well last series, the lobby will open at 4:15 pm EST on SUNDAY(?) and races will begin no later than 4:30. Races will again last around 30 min-40min depending on what track we’re at that week. We will be in, out, and done.

Assists and Damage/Tuning:

- Like last series, all assists are allowed, but should you to use them sparingly. You can take a lot of time off your lap just by learning to actually drive the car instead of relying on electronic help to guide you around track.

- Damage and fuel and tire wear will be set to cosmetic only. Please avoid contact at all costs regardless.

- Tuning is allowed and encouraged; we’d prefer you spend time tweaking your car instead of being lazy and just throwing BoP upgrades at it. Having said that, it is unlikely a Store Front tune can be built for this series; they are FROWNED upon and expressly forbidden.-SVTyler

Grid Ordering:

Random grid placement in each race.

!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!

- This will be a points-based championship series. PLEASE NOTE: Scoring is DIFFERENT from the other series. I used this in my F.A.P.S.D. drag race series, and it simply works best for me. It is like golf. The LOWEST score is given to the winner. Your score is the same as your final position in the race. Therefore the cumlative score along with number of races particpated in, determines the championship. Scoring is as follows: 1 pt for 1st, 2 pts for 2nd, 3 pts for 3rd, 4 pts for 4th, and so on, with 16th receiving 16 pt. In the event we don’t have 16 racers we will score to the lowest position (e.g., 12 people so last place gets 12 pts). DNF’s will be counted as your final finishing position so if you get disconnected or have to leave suddenly you’ll still get some points just for showing up.

- In the unlikely event that more than 16 people try to join a race, the lobby will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and anyone who doesn’t make it in won’t be racing for points that week. Sorry but we don’t play favorites or save spots, so be on at exactly 4:15 pm EST when I send out invites.

- All you have to do is show up and race, I will keep track of the finishes. In the event that I can not hold a particular race as scheduled, I will announce a rain date. Or another OPPONAUT may host it. Finish the season with the most points and you’ll get a some moolah for your FORZA 4 bank.

I know you’ve done a lot of testing for this series and there’s probably a reason for this, but why do some cars only have sport transmissions? Could we run race transmissions on these cars for tuning purposes? It shouldn’t affect the car’s performance other than slightly quicker shifts and lower weight. I just want to properly adjust it for different tracks. If it won’t work, it’s not a big deal.

Sport Trans just worked out for those cars when I was testing. I was concerned they would run a little faster if I used Race trans. They accelerated quicker. When changing the rear axle ratio and using Sport trans, it put them in the same lap time range as the other cars....keep it as set out for now, unless you have have trouble making the time (which you wont have any problem making, cause Im driving..LOL). If you really feel you need it, then change it for BOP.
