In Japan, they use these chicanes to slow down cyclists. NY needs this everywhere asap.

Tire spikes work better.

I prefer using chickens to slow down cyclists. Preferably thrown.

25 years later, the Mulsanne Straight: still un-straightened.

I see this type of thing as a challenge. I don’t trust that plastic though...

Here in Quebecistan they use these solid barriers as chicanes - this is an older picture, they’ve tightned them up a lot.

I hate when cyclists don’t ring their bell to warn you that they’re there.

This is a good idea.

I would have to do some urban gorilla work on these posts.

I hate it when pedestrians refuse to even acknowledge your presence when I ring.
Please note I’m not talking about roads or sidewalks, I’m talking of multi-use paths, like in parks.

Not with that, though. I find Milwaukee tools are like Toyotas. Very durable, but with a very disconcerting electronic throttle lag. Don’t like them.

Might I suggest the next location: The Brooklyn Bridge

People with head phones don’t hear shit. Caught up to a roller bladder taking the whole fucking 8-feet of the American River Bike Trail in Sacramento more than once and was shouting at the top of my lungs PASSING ON YOUR LEFT. Then they act all offended because you were trying to not be a dick and not plow into them.

Oh, they have an excuse for noticing, regardless of how stupid it is to put headphone on when there is other traffic behind you.
I’m thinking of the ones in groups of 3-5, walking side by side, nothing in/on their ears and completely ignoring you.

Why does Japan let cyclists ride on sidewalks?

I dunno, I don’t even cycle all that often and this pisses me off. Why the need to slow down cyclists, if that’s a legal bike lane? Although looking at the base, it kind of looks like they are spring loaded like I’ve seen out of some similar traffic barriers.

I don’t dare walk on there, but I’m sure it needs these and separate walkways for tourists.
