I attended a hill climb race today. It was _not_ Goodwood, but I think it was every bit as awesome…
Switzerland has mountainous terrain and many towns perched upon hillsides throughout the picturesque countryside. Running your car to the top of the hill faster than your friend in his jalopy was a common occurrence - no doubt. Hill climb racing has been a popular sport in Switzerland for more than 50 years. In fact, one small-town hill climb is celebrated their 50th anniversary this weekend. (Sidenote: wheel-to-wheel auto circuit racing has been banned in Switzerland since the tragic 1955 crash at Le Mans that claimed more than 80 lives.)
Reitnau (pronounced ‘right-now’) is a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! northwest of Lucerne in the canton of Lucerne, Switzerland. For 50 years they have had an organized hill climb race. It is basically a weekend motorsports festival solidly grounded in grassroots motorsport. It is rare to be able to attend a more well organised event that gets you closer to the race cars at full chat than a Swiss hill climb.

A tribute to a PORSCHE Can-Am car perhaps. But not REAL 917, to be sure. As P race cars of that era had a single, very large nut wheel fastening. Not this system shown on the yellow car. Those were used on English cars primarily.
