Nostalia? Sloth? Because I might list them on CL one day? Cleaning out the garage is such a humbling experience.
Although this new bumper and grille could be worth a few cents. If I ever sold them maybe.
Anywhere, here’s a cat supervising my inventory.

Is that your cat, or just some random cat that wandered in.

Ahh. Just wondering because one day, a random chipmunk became my garage supervisor.

I’m not sure which is worse - having parts to a car you no longer own, or having parts to a car you’ve never owned (and probably never will). For some reason I have a full and complete set of dashboard switches for Mk 2 Jetta or Golf. From the factory only two of the six spots were filled (rear defroster and hazard lights) but I managed to acquire four completely different switches to fill the remaining positions.

Hey man a few more trips to the junkyard and you’ll have a complete golf! :)
I just found a timing belt cover gasket for a corolla, I think, which I’ve never owned. I think I pulled it to see if it would fit on a 3A motor (Tercel) years ago.

Get a squirrel and he’ll hide snacks for you in the garage!

I have a keyring full of ignition keys from various GM vehicles. They appear to be 90s and older.
Save for a Cavalier and a Chevy-Van 20, my family has never owned any 90s GM vehicles.

I’m definitely tempted to keep the toyota grille elbem. And maybe I can hang sconces through the headlight gaps on the grille or something

It’s amazing how few of those I’ve seen at the junkyard. The midwest rust must have dissolved almost all of them. There was one I spotted last week - a 1985 Jetta Diesel that appears to have been sitting around for ages judging by the moss growing on the cloth interior. I forgot to check the switch panel though...

For some reason, I have a Jaguar badge. Probably because it looks cool.

Why, was one of your intake hoses full of nuts?

I’ve got a fancy remote key thingy from a late-model Audi that I found in the lost and found at work as they were purging. And then there’s the Dodge Caravan key from a co-worker’s wrecked vehicle. I think I just grabbed them for the batteries and haven’t been able to part with the remainder. I was kind of hoping to stumble across the Audi and screw with the forgetful owner.

I’ve got some cool old badges for Type I VWs (red and yellow - unlike any I’ve seen before; maybe I should contact Torch for a history of hood badges) that I’ve kept around just for the looks so I know what you mean. Needless to say, I’ve never owned an air-cooled VW.

You aren’t alone. I have the reverse light assembly for a 300ZX, complete with the wiring and two working bulbs. It’s been sitting on my bookshelf for years.

One other interesting thing that I have is the instrument cluster to a pre-facelift B1 Passat. My first car was a ‘77 Dasher Wagon, and I have fond memories of it. My goal was to mount the cluster on a nice wood base and hook up some power to the illumination and clock and use it as a desk clock.
My mother, the first owner of said Dasher, informed me that the clock probably doesn’t work since the one in our car died after just a few years. I was in high school when I drove this car and being a typical teenager didn’t really use a clock all that much so I never noticed...

I was also going to wire up the 300ZX reverse lights to illuminate, but I never got around to it.
