I was coming home from work this morning, tired.
From the left side, a deer runs out in the road. I move over to try and avoid it. It thumps off the left rear door, but doesn’t damage it. As a result of moving over, though, the mailbox that I didn’t notice peeled off the passenger’s side mirror.
Goddammit. I hadn’t damaged a car since hitting a deer with the Escort.
EDIT: Now with picture.

At least you avoided hitting it direct. That would have done a lot more damage.

Oooh, no! I hit a deer once. I was speeding in the mountains. If I hadn’t been speeding, I could have stopped in time. Lesson learned.

That sucks. At least you didn’t hit it full on, though.

My roommate in college had his car totaled by a deer. I lost my GS300 to a deer. It sucks. At least you're ok.

Oh deer...
Can you fix it? :)

Could have been worse. A couple years ago I nailed one in a spot where the cop said he’s never seen one before. Couldnt open the driver door more than a few inches because the fender was pushed back so far.
Just losing a mirror? Ill go ahead and call that a success.

I hate deer too . You would think that they would learn to not run in the road after all of their friends got hit, but apparently not.

I hit a deer earlier this year. Didn’t even slow down, clipped it and it spun out. 2:30 AM in 8.75 hours of a 9 hour commute.

I am supportive of deer season. Because they are menaces to cars on four spindly legs.

More vehicles need steel bumpers.

Hello from Wisconsin! Today’s incident was about 4 miles outside of Wisconsin Dells.

I went back to see if I could pick up the broken mirror and reattach it, and the reaction was:
So I’ll have to just replace the whole mirror. About $40 for a RH non-heated power mirror for ‘92-’99 Bonneville.

If I had had full coverage, my Escort would’ve been totaled from the deer I hit then.
The puddle is power steering fluid.

This is true. I’m glad I don’t have to replace front end parts.

stupid ass bastards
they live their whole life being the fastest animal around, outrunning threats
then they think they can outrun a Freightliner
that’s a mistake they don’t walk away from

Could have been worse, sure, but yeah, just a Neon. I only miss it as my first car, not that it was great or anything.
Car later nailed a truck that ran a light, totaled after that one. I posted the dash cam footage that night on here. Pretty ugly shituation, but Im still here and thats what counts.
Side view mirrors are way cheaper than body work, so go buy a few lotto tickets!

Oh, okay! Deer are just everywhere in Wisconsin, and the U.S. for that matter. You can’t get away from them!

That’s worse than my GS but better than my old roommate’s. Mine hit the corner like yours but I was still able to drive home. My roommate’s whole front end was destroyed. It bent the a pillar. Had to be towed. Damn no hunting areas.
