I went to an extremely conservative, christian high school. Basically from day one at that school, they tell you what is right and what is wrong according to the Bible. I was scrolling through facebook this afternoon and happened upon this gem of a status.

This guy was in the class below me and clearly has not experienced the real world outside of our conservative, fucked up school. My high school, which I am ashamed to admit that I attended, literally brainwashes every kid that spends any time there. Being gay? NOT OK. Dancing. OH NO, NOT ALLOWED. Having any kind of fun whatsoever? BETTER BE CHURCH SANCTIONED! There was a gay guy in my class who was asked to leave the school for being gay. Can you fucking imagine that?!

Obviously this kid has never met or been friends with a gay person. My best friend is gay and there is no way I could look him in the eyes and say “Hey, man, you can’t get married to the man you love cause I think it’s wrong. ” Sorry for the half drunk, non car related rant. I’m just pissed off at the ignorant fucks that have a problem with gay marriage. IF TWO PEOPLE LOVE EACH OTHER, LET THEM DO WHAT THE FUCK THEY WANT. They’re not hurting you. Leave them alone and let them love who they love.

Your friend, while part of a very vocal minority, is still in the minority. The country is changing, and leaving people like him behind. The thing is, nobody is forcing these people to change the way they think. They can go on believing what they believe. But they are being forced to accept the fact that not everybody thinks the way they do, nor do they have to. I think this free country just got a little freer today.

Let me teach you all a little something about the bible. It’s nothing but pages and pages of made up bullshit and lies. There is no truth to the bible. If God is this being that you can’t see or hear then how in the fuck did someone know what to write down? Then there’s Jesus, the man who can apparently walk on water and turn water to wine is essentially a magician yet magic is supposedly not real. How about the alleged “stereotype” that priests touch young boys. The Catholic church denies that to be true yet I see all the time on the news about a minister/priest being charged with sexual offences.

The Catholic religion is the worst religion out there, whether or not people believe that is a different story. They believe they’re angels and saints yet they usually cause the most issues/controversies out of all the other religions.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe in a God and was even raised as a Catholic but I stand by my statement. The bible is not truth, it contains hundreds, possibly thousands of arguments that don’t make sense and tons of contradictions. I stopped believing in the Bible when I was 17 years old and I will voice my feelings towards it however I please.

Now I’m all for religion, I’m not saying others can’t have faith but I have an extremely hard time believing the things taught within the Catholic church.
