On our night time walk, one of my dogs has just been chased across the green and into a fenced corner by the world’s angriest cat, which then proceeded to beat the living shit out of her face, ears and hind quarters. It only stopped attacking her when I ran up towards them screaming like a lunatic. She’ll be off to the vets in the morning for a check up on one of her ears (they are by far the worst affected) but the bleeding has stopped and I’ve wrapped her head in gauze so that she can’t reopen the cuts when she shakes or fusses with them. It really pisses me off when people talk about Staffies being dangerous dogs, she didn’t retaliate, and even balled herself up into the corner to try and avoid more punishment, hence the damage across her back legs and tail. Seriously, a fucking cat? That’s not how the nursery rhymes go. So much drama for a midnight runabout.

My cat, Tuna, was outside with me one day and my neighbor came out with his month old pit puppy.. ran right up to Tuna happy as could he, she hissed, Halloween kitty pose and the pit rolled over and submit. My neighbor looked more defeated than his dog considering said pup just got submitted by the angry cat.

Yep, it’s extremely rare that violence is in a dog’s nature, rather it’s the way they’re brought up that defines their temperament. Pitbulls and Staffies are seen as status dogs over here, so quite often end up gaining the wrong image, and the wrong owners :(

Fuck stray cats. When my pup was 6 months old I took him for a walk and a stray cat came bolting from behind a fence and took a swipe at his face, he moved his face back just in time and I stomped the floor and the cat ran off.
About 3 years later in a totally different neighborhood a stray cat that a local laundry mat was feeding did the exact same thing except this time I saw the cat just in time and kicked the shit out of it and it ended up running off. I then proceeded to punt the pile of kibble they had put out for it all over the sidewalk.

Pit owner here, i understand the frustration. If the roles were reversed, the city would pick up the dog and label it vicious and/or euthanize it. Damn shame.

It’s a shame that dogs shelters are full of Pits and Staffies, and that a curious cycle of ‘unadoption’ happens. Idiots abandon or abuse their ‘dangerous’ dog because it’s not violent or dangerous enough for their image, it gets taken to a shelter where a regular prospective dog owner ignores it because it’s got a reputation courtesy of all the wrong people. I donate to my local shelter about twice a year, and it always makes me sad when I go in there to drop the stuff off. Give them a chance ffs.

Always bad news when you have to take the dog to the vet. I remember when my dog got bit by another dog. He’s fine now but it was very stressful.

Aw, poor puppy! Such a cutie... Hope she’s all healed up soon. Pitties are the best!
ETA: you probably already know this, but you might need antibiotics for your doggie. Cats have a lot of bacteria in their claws and teeth, and cat inflicted injuries can get super infected. My dog’s paw once swelled up after a cat bite to where it looked like the skin would burst.

Thanks, I washed all her cuts in the shower and just let them bleed out for a bit under the running water before drying them off and putting the silly gauze wrap over her ears, hoping that it may go someway to preventing infection. She went to the vets this morning for an injection and some steristrips for one of her ears, which should keep her fit and healthy :)
