If you’ve ever wanted one of the greatest French (race?)cars of all time and have a spare boat and lots of time/$, here you go. I love the AAA sticker on the back. You’re probably going to want AAA Plus, at least.

If you want to go full-on restoration, then project car from hell. However, if you just want to keep basically the chassis and body and do the rest with some more reliable and readily available components, NP.

Can’t be hard to fix up. Just get the right engine donor vehicle.

Such shame. I can’t find a decent project over here, either. They share a drivetrain with a lot of vehicles (including the Delorean) since it’s the PRV engine.

Also, he’s pricing values for a restored A110. A restored A310 is maybe $40k.

I was seriously thinking about calling in sick to work tomorrow and driving up to Jax until I saw the price. Such CP.

Where the hell did they dig this up from? And, is SpongeBob still living in it?

Yeah, it really depends on how much is left. If it is indeed restorable, I think half his price is ok. There could be a couple grand in parts on it considering its rarity in America.

There’s a slight premium for it already being in the U.S., but yeah. Might as well ship a good one over than spending thousands getting this one right.

A nice-condition french car can be a hand-full to maintain with lack of north american support.

A basket case could truly be a nightmare.

Although of any french cars... an A310 is among my favorites... like a better, light-weight DeLorean, when they got the same rear-engined PRV v6 drivetrain.

I want the car, but the price is CP. I think $3,000-$3,200 based on the wretched condition.

It depends on the French car. I daily drive a Renault 5 (Le Car) that was a near basket case when I started. I keep it running without much trouble. An Alpine, though, is a totally different beast. You’ll get used to ordering parts from Europe. Amazing cars, though. And I kind of dig this one’s color.

Yeah, I agree. It's going to cost a fortune to make nice again. Where are you going to get that windshield? It would still tempt me if I was close to it and I had a 50% off coupon.

The fact no pictures of the interior are posted does make me wonder. If there’s an interior in it at all. $7K is probably too much. Decent ones do aroun 15k euros over here.

Kinja'd!!!1

Based on the state of the exterior, I would imagine the interior is toast. But, you never know. It would have to be a mint interior to justify that price. Yeah, you could import a good one for much less than it would take to get this one back in order. I doubt you could eek out 7 grand if you parted it out.

I see these in France for 5 to 7K euros as well so it’s not a US-problem though. Project car hell. Although those interiors didn’t come with the most awesome/amazing materials. Great seats!

Kinja'd!!!1

People think it’s as desirable as the 110, but it so isn’t as much as I love it. Sorted, it’s an amazing car, but in that condition, I imagine it would be a complete nightmare to put it right.

Sweet seats, yeah. That was a good era for seats.

It doesn’t even come close to that A110!!! Awesome but doesn’t come close. That A310 I probably will own one day, that A110 just if I ever win a Jackpot.

Those Renault seat sure looked amazing, they were just somewhat too soft for my liking.

Yeah, same here. Maybe if I get one of these blockbuster movie deals I’ll get both.

I’m a fan of soft seats because here in L.A. you spend a lot of time just sitting. It can be hard on the tush.

Even my Volvo has pretty hard seats, those I truly adore. Best seats are in the 911 though. Or maybe my Recaros for the 2002 but those I haven’t tried driving yet.

911’s have always had great seats. I haven’t been in a brand new one, but the older ones are not too soft or hard. Volkswagen seats, however, I find to be torture devices for my back. Which is what I expect from Germans. Recaros can be hit or miss for me depending on the car. Sometimes I just can’t find the perfect position with them.

Last generation I’ve experienced was the 997. Awesome seats. ‘80’s VW seats were not that good: pretty hard in combination with barely lateral support. I’ve never had a miss with a Recaro. I used to adore those head-rests with the ‘netted center’ (no idea how I’d say this in English but they look like this:

Kinja'd!!!

)

Oh yeah. Those are awesome. I think we’d call it a “mesh” headrest. Was Recaro the only one to use them? I feel like there was something that came from the factory with similar ones.

I wouldn’t know actually. All I know is Recaro had them. And that a friend’s Manta B had 1 seat with this. Just one.

I thought somebody like Volvo used mesh. Maybe not. They could have been factory Recaros on something. It feels very 80’s to me. What about mesh bottoms like on those office chairs? Never seen that in a car.

06/29/2015 at 05:36

Kinja'd!!!1

Volvo used these for quite some time, maybe you’re mixing up styles.

Kinja'd!!!

A mesh bottom, or entirely meshed seat should be awesome. Just think of the way your skin will look after driving it for some time topless. Or pantless.

Only thing that comes close were those hammocks mounted in the first-first-gen Panda.

I remember those Volvo headrests well. I could be confused. Wouldn’t be the first time. I’m probably remembering a car from my long ago youth that had Recaros in it.

I think a full mesh seat would make pantsless driving even more exciting. The breeze would get to places that rarely feel the wind like that.

Early 2CV’s had similarly flimsy seats.

Kinja'd!!!

As did the Peel.

Maybe we could get a healthcare subvention on the mesh seating as, as you already mention, wind comes in places that could be quite moisty/sweaty. I guess some ventilation in those places is good for anyone. People should be able to buy our Wanke r lMobil without having to pay VAT. That Peel looks like a bloody WWII reconnaissance plane!

Good thinking. It’s the perfect remedy for what we call “jock itch,” a serious medical issue.

Haha. I think a P-38 actually had a roomier cockpit. And better seat cushioning.

We could probably skip the airco as well if we’re less sweaty over there. Which is good for fuel consumption and the environment. Another tax-deduction added!

P38? I was kinda thinking about the Fieseler Fi156 ‘Storch’.

We also have a removable roof, don’t forget, so definitely don’t need a/c.

I think that plane is one vehicle the Peel actually was better built than.

I think you’re mistaken about the Storch, it was even used in the Gran Sasso raid!
