That took some getting off...

My brother had to do the same thing on his Corolla yesterday.

Yeah sometimes they just don’t want to budge. Access was shitty for this one too

Screwdriver? I don’t think I’ve ever encountered one that hasn’t welded itself to the mount.

That’s how my mom’s looks like everytime my stepdad changes her oil. It's in a spot that's easier just to stab and turn than to get a hand in or use a filter wrench and turn a cm at a time.

The tire iron had a sharp end so I hammered that through it. This is the first I’d had to force off.

Yeah this was behind the engine under the intake manifold so access was terrible.

I've been noticing the newer my cars get, the harder it is to get at the filter. They're being designed to be worked on by mechanics with a lift.

Depends really. My 2010 car has excellent access yet this car we had trouble with is a 1999.

That’s why I got filter wrenches. Got one of each size, since we got 3 cars with different filter sizes. The wrench I bought when I had my sx4 even fits my ATV and snowmobile.

We had a filter wrench, even that wouldn’t budge it.

I got two types, the black plastic caps, and a metal claw that fits all sizes and squishes the filter the harder you turn.
I always find that the dealer screws on the filters too tight, that's why I got all the wrenches.

We had the chain one. I think the Hulk put this filter on and welded it for good measure.
