So, I was leaving a couple of comments on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! when I decided to re-imagine the Rifleman’s Creed into one that applies to cyclists and motorcyclists. Figured my fellow two-wheels-good crowd would appreciate it. Happy Friday, y’all!

Nice!

I’m currently saving up for a bike myself. I’m partial to vintage Honda CBs and Triumph Bonnevilles, but I know my first bike will be a cheapo sub-500cc, most likely a dualsport. :)

Pretty light? I see the tubing is too small for me to guess it’s aluminum, but a steel-tube unsuspended bike generally does alright. I have a ~30yo crazy light aluminum frame unsuspended Cannondale in ludicrous purple (haven’t repainted it - I ain’t care) - exactly like this one save the pink drink holder:

It’s a bit fiddly, and between some issues with the brakes and needing the wheels redone I haven’t ridden it much in a long time. It’s a good bike, though.

Yup. Mine is a 20 year old chromoly steel Trek mountain bike resto-modded into being a hybrid. There have been a couple more small tweaks made since that sunset photo, but mostly cosmetic. Eventually, I want to get clipless pedals for it and maybe a new bar. It was originally a dark grape purple color. It still has its original gearing, so it’s 21 speeds. I should write a post about everything that was done to it (by my very, VERY awesome bike mechanic, who also happens to brew his own beer. I told ya he was awesome, right? Because he is! ^_^). Best $40 I ever spent on Craigslist. :)

My gearing (and everything else except maybe the gel seat that died) was original up until the rear sprocket pack said “fuck you” and died, so I had to replace it. I think I bought it for like $100, but this was some years PC (Pre-Craigslist).
