Kinja'd!!!2 Kinja'd!!! 12

Re-painted my grille surround and the logo to better match my wheel covers. Still going for a Stock+ look with this car, and I am *still* chasing vacuum leaks. I have my IACV blocked off and my idle adjustment screw all the way closed and the car still idles. Somehow. It really shouldn’t. And of course our fancy Snap-On smoke machine is broken so I need to find a cheap cigar and someone who smokes.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Now I really need to clean my engine bay and find some decent paint to re-color the hideous blue CAI white, as well as the valve covers. Not sure if I should go for exposed timing belt or not. Thoughts?

Kinja'd!!!

EDIT: WTF? I just noticed my car has two horns. You can see one of them next to the strut tower in the engine bay shot (look just up and left of the blue washer fluid lid) and the other one is in the grille. And neither one is hooked up right. *sigh*

Haven’t tried spraying it with starter fluid?

Yup. Wasn’t able to find it. I can clearly hear it, though. Sounds like it’s coming from the under side of the intake manifold. I’m afraid I might have cracked it. I did kind of lift the engine by it. Fuck. JB Weld time.

I think all cars have two horns. one is low frequency and the other is high.

You still thinking about chopping the top?

That was a different Civic. I’m selling that one.

My civic had a similar,”horn” for an aftermarket alarm. Have you checked the horn buttons to see if they’re acually connected properly?

And most importantly the timing cover:

Kinja'd!!!

I’d say take it all off to make repairs that much eisier.

How difficult is it to remove? Does it just slide off of the valve cover when removed?

No strut tower braces? And here I was thinking that all Hondas of that vintage had them.

The top half of the cover should come off (few 10mm bolts)when the valve comes out. As far as the rest of it youll need to take the crank pulley off(major PITA) and a few bolts. Ive yet to have problems without mine and makes timing changes and adjustments quick.

There isn’t really anywhere in that bay to route one. It’s a funky layout.

I had a similar issue with my ol 96, tracked it down to the intake manifold gasket, change them 3 times before using an oem gasket, that solved my issue. Good luck!
