1996. Big pants. Scirocco. Me. My girlfriend at the time and a few friends. Show me some pics of your whip back in the days (back in the days is relative here)

So yeah that was me laying on the roof. We came out of the woods behind our school after sneaking out to smoke * something *. We rushed to strike a pose because the principal was out cruising the parking lot (probably looking for us hooligans). We told him we were out for photography class. And then it made it into the center spread of the yearbook. By the time I graduated I had upgraded to the 57K mile 5000 Turbo seen below. Still miss the hell out of that Scirocco though. It was only 10 years old. Going to go listen to some Sunny Day Real Estate now and live it

man... there have got to be some pics of me three-wheeling around corners in my ‘89 Mazda Protege LX aka: The Mach 5... white with red-painted steelies, big anti-roll bars, Bilstein strut inserts, EBC pads and rotors, and more tire than was strictly required... I had first-gen Sumitomo HTR-Zs on it as well as Yokohama AVS Intermediates. I was indestructible (young and stupid) and that little Mazda would embarass most challengers on the twisty mountain roads, as long as there weren’t too many straights...

That car began my long tradition of modding the suspension and brakes of my cars, and never touching the engine.

I also have heard they’re going to tour and/or release a new record this year. Not a big enough fan to care, though.

However, I thought their Eight Arms To Hold You record was amazing. Probably mostly due to the fact that Bob Rock produced it.

it wasn’t a bad album, I think I was much more partial to that dog, Velocity Girl, Spinanes etc for some reason - maybe a bit more poppy. I did see them play once and they did bring it

I still have mine too, but it’s been sitting for awhile. 235k and a bit of rust, and the engine smokes too badly to pass smog so I parked it years ago. I don’t ever want to be without one.

It happens. Mine’s got holes at the base of the windshield, at the base of the nose panel, and bubbles around the rear side glass. Other than that, beyond normal wear & tear it’s not too bad for having been a coastal CA van its entire life. I live about mile from GoWesty and buy stuff from them all the time for customer vans, there is no shortage of easy used parts available come time to resurrect mine.
