My friend was just pulled over for turning on a no turn on red. But the cop gave the ticket in his Dad’s name. Can he get out of the ticket because of the mistake?

Who’s license number is on the ticket?

No. Minor clerical errors do not get you a “get out of jail free” card. There was a recent post by our resident Jalop lawyer about this. I’d look it up but I’m too tired and off to bed.

No, I once got a ticket with someone else’s name on it. Didn’t matter.

Maybe? I’m not sure if a wrong name counts as a minor error.

Luckily, traffic lawyers are pretty cheap. Give one a call.

No. The judge will hear his story and the cop’s story. If he wants, the judge will put your friend under oath and ask him oiff it’s supposed to be his ticket. Either man up, or perjure himself.

The system was designed so that if you made the mistake, you pay the price. But when the system makes a mistake, you still pay the price.

It’s always a win-win for the system. There is literally next to no accountability of correctness anymore on the part of the police force, and that seems to be more true as you hear more stories of police brutality or overexercising their authorities on a daily basis.

Or...he could own up to breaking the law, pay his ticket and move on.

It might be minor error if he’s under 18!

That is a beautiful photo. Like really beautiful. I thought it was video game at first cuz who knows if there are even that many Integrales left or if they’ve all rusted away since...

Simply stunning.
