Here’s mine, CTS V-Sport. Phantom Gray over Morello Red. With the alcantara steering wheel and shifter. So pretty, so mean.

Go!

72k and it’s not even a full V? Man these things have gone up in price. I just want an ATS-V with AWD and the 7-speed.

Vector Blue ATS-V sedan with all the goodies. Normally I’d go for a coupe, but something seems off about the ATS coupe’s proportions.

Two things: no V will ever be AWD unless they make one out of an SUV. The other thing is there won't be a 7 speed until we get the Black Series fighter.

It's not the proportions, it's the fact that it looks too European.

No, there really is too much space between the rear windows and the wheel arch with nothing to break it up.

That said, I do prefer the more dramatic appearance of the old CTS-V coupe. That’s the kind of statement Cadillac needs to continue to make, if you ask me.

Couple months ago the rumor was the ATS-V+ would have a 505hp LS7 and the 7 speed. As amazing as it would sound, I don’t know that the 40hp/35lbs-ft jump over the TT V6 would be enough, especially considering a chip alone would get you more than that, but the 7 speed in the current V would be great around town with super close ratios, while still giving it legs on the highway for super-low rpm cruising. It really makes more sense in the Caddy than a dedicated sports car.

It manages to look both long and tall. I think it’s just another case of crash-test-driven high beltline making it look chunky.

Regarding AWD, I go against the “purist” grain on this. Yes if you’re on a track where you can keep the car at high speeds the whole time, RWD wins. But with the huge power gains cars are seeing, they should have AWD for low speed turns, acceleration from a stop, and wet/cold weather, otherwise you’re just getting diminishing returns (especially for 0-60).

I think the Corvette proves that you don’t need AWD for everything. The new Z06 does 0-60 in 2.9 With RWD and a good driver.

The Z06 also has its weight about as low and rearward as possible without going mid-engine, and it’s still pulling power with launch control. The Corvette is (relatively) simple, light, and affordable, but once you get into the sports/luxury arena and horsepower in the 450+ region, why not let it use the rest of its grip?

The Corvette would lose so much of its usability. AWD would mean that it was heavier, would use more gas, and not at all be the aerodynamic engineers set dream that it is. Some of these companies I feel just use AWD to compensate for not being able to engineer the rest of the car to accomplish what it needs to. The band-aid effect.

I don’t mean for the Corvette, but for Cadillac/BMW/Audi, you’re not making a super low, simple machine for ideal conditions, but an all around machine. If the Caddy is already designed for an AWD system, they should let us have it with the good engine, and a manual. Get back some of the weight by losing the 47-way heated seats and options.
