Here we see N2A ‘Spirit of Innovation’ followed in close formation by N1A ‘Wingfoot One’. Around Akron, it’s fairly common to see one of Goodyear’s airships. I’ve only lived here for 12 years, but I’ve never seen multiple flying in formation.
Saw these on the way home from work. Apologies for the potato pics. Also, they’re in reverse order so as to get a better lead pic.
‘Spirit of Innovation’ is a classic blimp, consisting of a 192’ long Dacron & Neoprene envelope with no internal framework. ‘Wingfoot One’ is a Zeppelin, consisting of a 246’ long Polyurethane, Polyester and Tedlar film envelope over a framework of Aluminum and Carbon Fiber.

GOODYEAR BLIMP SPIRIT OF AMERICA TO EMBARK ON WEST COAST FAREWELL TOUR
May 4, 2015
After nearly 13 years of soaring high above Southern California, the Goodyear blimp “Spirit of America” will be retired in August 2015—but not before it takes its final expedition. “Spirit of America” will embark on its farewell tour of the West Coast this summer, beginning June 2.
Passed by my work last week....

I’ve seen 3 or 4 fly over Columbus in formation, then the split off to go to whatever college football game they were each covering.

Guessing that was ‘Spirit of America’ that CaptDale referenced in his reply.
