Kinja'd!!!

Less than a block away from from my house and I see it almost every day in the garage. I finally saw it on my afternoon jog(being healthy and stuff), and an old gentleman owns it.

I’ve been meaning to walk(or drive, because lazy or to use 944/911 as mutual acceptance) and ask him about it, but dammit I just find it too awkward. Perhaps its time to bite the bullet and do something about it.

MG TD... or a VW based kit of a MG TD. Basically MGs first entry in the sports car market following WWII. After the ever popular TD came the MGA and then the MGB.

it’s a 1950-53, it looks old because it’s the same pre-war body design MG used on the TA’s and TB’s.

They were popular with returning US soldiers so MG exported the TC’s and TD’s to the states. The TD is the better car with a more modern chassis and independent suspension. 1250cc’s if I recall correctly, but they weigh about nothing.

That one looks modified. it’s got some serious poke on those wheels. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more changes.

With wheels that wide it's a kit car for sure, and one that's been posted on Oppo once a long time ago. The name escapes me as well though :p

As others have said MG kit car built on a beetle chassis.

There’s a bunch in the “replica” section of carsonline, most don’t specify the make but one says it’s a 1982 Fiberfab MIGI.

Check out some of them here, this whole section of the site is just a weird fiberglass backwater...

Oh, what? Wrong one? Sorry, the other one is a Jeep Patriot.

Here is an authentic MG TD for your reference

That other is pretty horrid kit car, IMHO.

The body is not that bad but those axles, therefore, also the wheel offset is all wrong, as you can easily see. There were some really nice reproductions that looked right and drove even better than those original ones. So, if interested, look for one of the better ones. Not that one...

VW based kit.

Four tailpipes and the VW front axle give it away,

..and the dash... and the wheels and tires....
