Who is currently the best leader within the auto industry, what automaker are they in charge of and why are they the best?

Just to stir shit up I’m going to say Mary Barra, currently in charge of GM.

Reason: She gets shit done and they're putting out some pretty damn nice cars.

Have at it Oppo!

Akio Toyoda (Toyota), because he’s not only an honest car guy, but he races! In fact, he and the Aston Martin CEO both raced each others N24 cars. He’s also a big proponent for sporty Toyotas.

He’s also way cooler than any of you.

Akio Toyoda.

#1 global sales and his company hasn’t killed anyone recently. Would have gone with Ford, but didn’t they just change from Mulally? so the verdict is still out.

I would say indeed he is one the best.

I like Akio as well, he’s all around a good car guy. Mulally retired from Ford last year in July. Mark Fields is his replacement, former CEO of Mazda from 92-02 during the Ford ownership. He's also a former COO of Ford.

Hellcats aside, I personally think Sergio is a horrible leader but to each his own.

He saved Chrysler, relaunched Alfa Romeo in North America, and is now cranking out some decent product.

He gave them some extra money, I wouldn’t exactly credit him for completely saving the company. Everything that came out in 2011 was already planned before Fiat completely took over the company.

As for Alfa, it’s either going to be a flop or it’s going to sell lots while Sergio ignores Chrysler (which he is already starting to do). He has some seriously high goals, which will most likely end in disappointment when he doesn’t meet them.

Now he’s (very desperately) trying to merge with every single company, that looks bad on his part seeing as his company is huge and could be very profitable.

Fair enough. He has been a bit of a mess lately. Honestly, I only chose him because Akio and Barra were taken.

When FCA first started he was doing excellent but now he seems to be giving up on the Chrysler part of it and trying too hard to push the Fiat part of it into the U.S. Market.

I'm just waiting for him to fail miserably, hopefully he doesn't leave Chrysler in a worse condition than Daimler did.

Yeah. All this wasted potential is a bit of a shame.

It really is a shame, he has a good thing in front of him. If he really tried, FCA could be in the top 5 of biggest car companies.

I like Toyota (drove an IS 300 for the last 10 years) but Toyota’s CEO is eliminated because they make the most boring cars this side of Honda.

Without the IS-F and LFA, they would give Honda competition for the title.

Eh, with the FRS it’s not a bad line up all in all. I can’t honestly blame a guy for getting that cash.

Christian von Koenigsegg. We hear about some start-up super car company that will “totally revolutionize the industry” every other week. Koenigsegg did it twenty years ago, and is still going strong.

Honorable mention: Elon Musk of Tesla Motors, for the same reasons. However, in my opinion, he is too fanatical about it. I could easily see him dismissing technology that would give Tesla a huge advantage in the name of pursuing his electric only crusade.

Possible future winner: Paul Elio if he can overcome the technical challenges, it will be an amazing achievement. I still don’t think he can make it work from a business standpoint, but it could spur the industry into adding a smaller, lighter, and more fuel efficient market segment to their lineups.

Good nomination, Christian Von Koenigsegg is brilliant, every week he seems to have a new idea that others don't think of.

Then you look at his company’s products, especially in America...

Agreed, Koenigsegg is what Musk would be if Musk actually cared about cars.
