There is an abundance of sites that we go to for our “oh my God I can get ______ for $______!!!!???!?!? NPNPNPNPNPNP!!!” and “what is this guy thinking? CP” jollies. My question to our community is this:
Where do you go when you -
a. are looking online to buy a car?
b. are looking online just for fun?
c. are looking online for no reason whatsoever?
Do you find Craigslist to be entertaining or do you want to skip the spelling errors and go to Autotrader? Do you find Autotrader and Car.com to be outdated and look through Cargurus.com or some newer site? Do you actually use KBB or TrueCar?
Miata, because that’s what we apparently all use these sites to find anyways.

When I was searching for my TL I used craigslist at first, then just ended up googling “used TL’s for sale in NJ”...then gave up and snagged an AutoShopper from Shop Rite.

Cars.com is my favorite site to use. Their advance search filters are really nice, and they don’t have the premium listing / standard listing crap.
Searchtempest.com is the best for finding obscure cars in the U.S. on Craigslist (Lancias, Renaults, and 1960’s Saabs.)

I usually use cars.com. I’m not seriously looking for something but it seems to have a lot of results. It recently let me down by not allowing you to filter by seating (i only wanted to look at more than 5 seats)

Autotrader.ca is really good. Better than the American version, in my opinion.

There are lots of sites I frequent. I must’ve physically looked at cars from all these sites.

Oh god, I’ve passed on SO MANY awful project cars around here. I’m still tempted to bite on this one, though:

Yea, but sometimes you get lucky and find people who have already gone through the trouble of bringing up Southern cars and are now running out of money

I’m actually in search of a good site for first-generation (2002-2008) Mazda6s in the same vein as IPD for Volvos, which, along with Brickboard, Swedespeed, TurboBricks, Craigslist, and eBay, were my go-to for Volvo parts and info. I’ve found a few but they feel like the Mazda version of vwvortex or stancenation and such.

Hey, I run SearchTempest. Thanks for the recommendation! Just wondering if you’ve tried our other side, AutoTempest.com; it uses SearchTempest to search craigslist, but also includes a number of other sites, including cars.com. Is there a reason you prefer SearchTempest, or have you just not had a chance to try it yet?
