And eveyrone els in the way of Bill; Batten down the hatches and try to stay dry, today is going to suck hard core.....actually looking at the forecast I think blow might be the better term.
Also, a preview of tomorrow’s commute

Tropical storm warnings as far inland as Fayette County, just one county over from Austin. In the past 5 years, we have hoped for a hurricane to help the drought. Now we get one when we don’t need one. Thanks, Obama.

It’s a thunderstorm with higher-than-normal winds and a lot of rain. No biggie.
My neighborhood’s FB page has been blowing up with sheer panic. I'm just like LOL see ya at work!

I’m already there....though it’s likely they will send us home at noon so we don’t get stuck here.

Yeah pretty much. Nature is going “here, let me make up for 5 years of drought in 2 months!”

At work now (Greenspoint area), planning on heading out ~1 or so. Rather surprised that the building is open, as the building management never made it in.

I came in a little late just to confirm that this is basically a non-event thunderstorm. People along the Brazos will have to worry over the next few days, but otherwise, no biggie.

Well, except there is already flooding in SW Houston. It’s not a huricane or anything, but with all the rain we’ve gotten lately flooding is a bit of a concern, especially for those near the coast. So, while I doubt it’ll be as bad as most are making it out to be, I wouldn’t call it a non-event either. According to the radar, the nasty stuff has yet to hit, so we’ll just have to see hod bad it gets.

I’m in the Westchase area (8 & Richmond), and pretty much the same. 40% or so of the office just didn’t come in today.

Let me rephrase: On the aforementioned FB page, people were talking about the storm like it was a hurricane. Some were preparing to evacuate, get a week’s worth of provisions, etc. This is simply a thunderstorm. Yes, there will be some flooding, but that’s not too out of the ordinary.
Maybe it's just me (seventh generation Gulf Coast Texan, been through many hurricanes and tropical storms), but anything shy of a strong Cat 1 isn't a biggie.

This just sucks, but tomorrow will be the true test, IMO.

Ah yeah, it’s nothing like that, though the potential for flooding is a bit worse than usual due to all the rain we got last month. But yeah, lived here for 25 years or so, and it is definitely nothing on the scale of a hurricane or anything. It’s no Allison for sure, now THAT one really sucked.

Honestly tomorrow isn’t looking too bad per the forecast....well comparatively anyway.

Allison was the exception to the rule. It formed suddenly, came ashore, went a little north of town, backed up, and camped out. If that is what was to be expected here again, then yes, freak out. Otherwise, nope.

I’m hoping it won’t be, but I ain’t holding my breath.
