Between XBone backwards compatability and Doom, I now have reason to upgrade to XBone and PS4!

I’m curious to see how Doom’s trademark speed plays on a gamepad.

I like how they made a game that accurately reflects the way you described Doom to your friends who had parents who wouldn’t let them play it.

These gameplay videos felt so nostalgic, yet so new. It’s like they are fulfilling my wishlist for the game 12 years later. It’s so beautiful I wanna cry.
I think Doom 3 is the FPS I have more hours in gameplay. Even more than HL2. Such a masterpiece.

Hello fellow “I liked Doom 3” human! It was different, yeah, but even though it was like playing jumpscare whack-a-mole, it sure was exciting.
Also, that game is almost 10 years old and nothing has even come close to touching how great shadows looked.

I don’t understand the hate (or lack of appreciation) some people have towards this game. It had a lot of jumpscares, but the whole ambient they were able to create was something so unique that I haven’t really felt on any other game. The sound design was also great. Especially in levels like the Delta Labs and Hell.
The combat was pretty slow if put against Quake 3 or the original Doom games, but it was still pretty close to what made those games great. The weapons were cool (especially in the expansion), and it had that cool Martian Buddy thing going on. The PDA things were nice too, as they were a nice touch to solve the puzzles. But if you actually went into reading and listening everything they had, the game’s story was great too as you had to discover what really happened there, rather than the story being thrown in your face with too many cutscenes and such. So you could chose wether you wanted a purely combat game or one that also had a story behind it. Most people I know never bothered to pay attention to that.
Also. I’ll never forget when I first played it, and there was a part where you are walking down a hallway and a zombie is coming on the corner, and you could see was his shadow coming from the corner way before he’s actually there and hear him. It was groundbreaking. And excellent to make the game genuinely scary (at least for 16 year old me).

It mostly comes down to IT’S DIFFERENT, I DON’T LIKE IT! EVERYTHING THE SAME FOREVER!
Imagine if the internet existed when Zelda 2 came out. It would have started a nuclear war.
Also, speaking of Doom 3 sound design, PLAY IT WITH THE TRENT REZNOR SOUND PACK!
http://doom3.filefront.com/file/Trent_Rez…
He was the original sound designer on the game, and after doing a good chunk of the audio he realized “this a much bigger game than Quake” and that he had bitten off more than he could chew, with With Teeth about to be released, and stepped away. He later gave the work he did to the mod community, who restored it to what it originally should have been. It’s fucking amazing.
Also, now that he has “retired” from NIN, he apparently did the audio for the new DOOM. It sure sounded like it. The music in that gameplay demo sounded a hell of a lot like his work on Quake.

Mother of god why didn’t anyone tell me about that before?!
I feel like buying this game for Mac (I don’t have a PC anymore) so I can try this. Damn!
Thank you!
Trent Reznor has been doing some amazing things lately.
