A dude compiled a small history of lowering cars from the 1940s till the 1980s, I thought it was really interesting, and it might be a good read for some of the stance haters around here. I know there are lots of you :p
An Alfa for your time, not stanced

Citroën provided stanced cars from the factory, starting in 1955.

Fedoras have also been around forever, doesn’t mean you should wear them today. That being said, thoroughly enjoyed that gallery. Good read, guy

This is the “stance” that gets hate from what I’ve seen. Rightly so, crappy body work, stretched tires and bearing munching camber are not what I’d call classy.
Just putting it in the weeds like that Caddy up there is wonderful.

I don’t have an issue with stance, or lowered cars in general.
I take issue with unsafe modifications in the name of style and the almost total elimination of usefulness some of the stanced cars I see have done.
Being dangerous and unsafe is not rebellious. It’s just stupid.

Nailed it. It’s not the lowering, though I personally don’t like cars too low, it’s the fucked up camber/stretched tire thing that brings the ridicule.

Haha, well said. I feel like if someone made a Venn diagram of stanced cars and fedoras there would be significant overlap.

That’s what I’ve seen too, the good stuff can just get lumped in since it all fits under the umbrella of “stance”

Not sure what you mean gmc, but I don’t mind folks lowering the center of gravity for their cars.
What we don’t give props for is lowering your car incorrectly (cut springs, taking shortcuts, etc). Meaning even as a show car, it looks gaudy. Birddog’s example is spot on. That person tried to make a hover car.
