They have #1 on their car. They know their team made a better car than last year, but it isn’t enough.

That’s why you always have to be daring. To push the envelope, to bring the absolute best you can come up with, and hope it holds for 24 hours. Why? Because in a few years, nobody cares if you finished 7th or didn’t finished at all.

Nissan expected to be slow. Given the specific conditions, it’s a good thing they made it with three cars and they’re still going.

But when your the world champions, you expect a lot more.

Porsche and Audi have given their teams far money money than Toyota has.

So while it’s true they aren’t pushing as hard, they also don’t really have any choice but to maintain the steady approach. I really wanted them to win this year, but if Porsche and Audi can keep their pace the whole 24 hours, Toyota really doesn’t have much chance despite their efficiency advantage.
