My wild theories:

1) Post moved back to draft for more editing.

2) Your theory.

3) Post had copyright issues and removed by mods.

4) Kinja is all fucked up. It’s slow as shit for me right now, and I keep getting partial page loads with odd fonts and (non-functional) moderator links such as “Follow/Unfollow [user] for [Gawker/Jalopnik/Wherever I Am].

You should be able to go into your post and edit it. When it says the time it was posted, you can click that and it should give you the option to change the time. Or, you could just repost it. I think it's worth a read as it's a fascinating story.

Honest question for the mods and authors. When gawker goes belly up from hogan lawsuit, is there a plan to at least carry on the jalopnik and oppo content?
