It’s based on Vishera architecture and whoops a haswell i5’s ass for half the price. Also it comes with a quality water cooler.
Here’s my tough part: Motherboards.
I have the Asus Sabertooth 990FX $167.04: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I hear good things about Sabertooth boards on the Intel side, but only when it comes with the shielding. Really, flip a coin, because they’re both solid boards.

and pls SSD this rig

I bought my 990FX for $200 a while back now. it’s great and easy to OC, but unless you’re into squeezing every bit of performance, no need for the Crosshair, the Sabertooth will handle it.

I was an amd guy fir awhile. But lately I’ve just been solid intel. Never had a problem. And kinda pissed that amd is slacking in the video card market.

My max is $470
Ain’t no way I’m getting a Haswell i7 and a matching mo’board for under that price!

Yeah, I was going to get the 8000 series (which is the logical step as I have a 6350) but I need more Ghz as I plan to run Solidworks and MatLab on this PC.

Oh shit. Well my Intel-4790K is a beast. Probably the most expensive thing on my PC at $330.

I just meant they are not releasing drivers well. Look at windows 10 and project cars. There is something seriously wrong there that we don’t know.

That’s true.
Nvidia is becoming scary as it's coercing developers to optimize their games for GTX cards. It's not looking good for Advanced Micro Devices. Their 14nm chipset can't come soon enough!

We’ll see what happens. Most of my stuff is rds farms for cad on the video side. I just started shopping for a new card for home.

I have also been in the market for awhile now. This cpu is a great deal if you only need 8 cores. I work on a production machine with 12 cores and the amount of visualization I do even on a home basis will require that kind of horsepower. i7-990X still one of the greatest processors out there.

speaking of graphics cards.. I need to replace my GTX 560, thing works great, but struggles to cope with more intensive settings.
