Haven’t been this excited for a movie since Chris Nolan’s Interstellar, but I’ve been so busy I haven’t had the chance to see it. The question is, do I walk to the funky old local theater by my house, which has lots of character but smallish outdated screens... Or find the biggest, loudest modern theater I can? Is it pure spectacle, or is it worth watching as more of an art film?
The last of the V8s for you time.

Do you have a Drive In nearby?
I highly recommend that route if possible!

Big and loud; the cars, fab-work, stunts, and physical effects are fantastic
The plot is pretty simple and the thematic elements, while good, aren’t really strong enough to merit over-analysis as an art film
It’s a really good action movie and should be viewed as such

So you're saying I should shell out the extra five bucks for true 120ft IMAX 3D? Good by me!

If you can think of a movie theater you would describe as 11 go to that one. 11 in terms of screen size and noise output, not in other terms of the likelihood of the place burning down with you in it or getting shanked while in the bathroom/buying popcorn (those are a whole different type of 11). Don’t go to a theater where you buy popcorn in the bathroom. Just don’t.
Don't bother trying not to enjoy the film - you're going to love the way it looks I guarantee it ;)

I know just the place. The Pacific Science Center has a 6 story high IMAX screen with a 12,000 watt sound system and a brand new digital 3D projection system. They play those awesome whale documentaries and such during the day, but use it for big scope Hollywood movies after the museum closes. It’s pretty spectacular.

As much as I love places with character, this movie is about big and loud.

Big and loud is the way to go. The movie is a very visual experience, and almost all of the storytelling is done through what you see. In fact, I would be surprised if there were more than a couple pages of dialog in the whole movie.
