I hear multiple flushes.
A couple minutes later, my foreign cousin (in her 30s) who is staying with us for this week calls me and says “The toilet got clogged. This happened last time I was here 2 years ago.”
“Weird. It hasn’t been clogged since.”
Go to the bathroom, fucking water EVERYWHERE. She just kept flushing and letting it overflow. In the toilet bowl and on the floor, unidentified red pieces floating about.
I grab a toilet auger and snake out whatever was clogging (turned the snake into a crimson red).
Flushed, works fine. Handed her a mop. Not what I want to be doing at 11 PM.

My house uses a septic system. I am militant about what goes down the damn toilet because during the first year of living there I had to snake and clear the drains all the time.

Me too. We were a family of 5, went 12 years without pumping the tank or problems. Some other people come to live in the house, and there’s backups and whatnot - had to pump it 2 years in. “But we trapped all the sink waste and only put pee and poo down the loo.” Right.
It’s the reason that the commune style “tool sharing” or “economic multiplier” or whatever you want to call sharing shit with others that aren’t totally aligned fails like a brick attempting to fly with playing card wings.

I bitched out my Sister in Law for using 1/2 a roll of TP in my septic system in one sitting . I told her she only gets 2 sheets for #1 and 6 sheets for #2 now.

Tell her that up here our crappers flush counterclockwise which isn’t as strong as clockwise which is the direction her crapper flushes wherever she’s from.

I have a standard spiel for all guests, especially long-term guests. I felt like a dick the first time I ran through it but I have had zero plumbing problems since and if they don’t like it, enjoy those overpriced NoVA hotels.
