Looking at potential father’s day gifts for me dear ole’ pops.
He’s got an ‘11 911 6-spd, but he’s always sort of lusted after the 911 turbo. I found a place in Las Vegas that has a fairly wide selection of cars, 911 Turbo included. Although the track there seems a bit bland (it’s kind of like a square that UPS handled) it seems like it would be a neat experience for him. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
However, given the choice he might prefer something a bit more exotic.
I’m just curious if anyone’s had experience with these types of places, and if anyone has recommendations. Something located in the west would be best, since we’re in Santa Fe.
I thought about some of the non-track exotic rental companies, but they tend to be in big cities (what’s the point of having a Lamborghini in NYC?) and I think he’d enjoy the whole thing more if he was in a controlled environment with an instructor.

I did one this past November at a racetrack in Oklahoma. It was a crap ton of fun. I did it through Extreme Experiences. It wasn’t too expensive. And I was in and out pretty quick. I got to do 3 laps and they flew by. But it was an amazing experience.

Cool. Glad to know this place isn’t some flash-without-substance thing.

There’s also this place, also in LV, that among other things claims to have an actual F430 GT race car.

Yes, at VIR last year. I am didn’t drive, obviously, but I got a ride in an E92 M3. It was too much fun. I think the company was called Adventure Supercars. Overall it was very yes.

Exactly. I’ve done some things up there before that really did not live up to the hype.

I did it before, back in November actually. I raced a 458 around the track in Walt Disney World. It was honestly the best day of my life. Seeing that speedo hit 130 and the feel of it all was incredible. I highly recommend it.

I did indeed, at the Disney track before it closed. It was a blast, but left me wanting for more track time. If you can afford it, find something with a good amount of seat time.

These guys go all the way up to 200. That seems insane.

Honestly, he already has a 911. Just pay for a track day. That itself should be a ton of fun.
But yeah that isn't a bad idea, I sent my dad on one of those while he was in Vegas for business.. Got to drive a 430 scud! He loved it, just wished it lasted longer. Price wasn't that bad either.

Yeah, I thought about that, but the Turbo is kind of his bedroom poster car in a way. He’s wanted one for the longest time but their resale is stubbornly high.
He may end up going for the 458 or Aventador, though. I can’t say for certain.
