Anybody taking a road trip this summer?

We’re packing up the family truckster for another drive to the east coast, about 3000 miles round trip.

I am hopefully in August. Going to visit a friend out in Ohio (of all places). Where to the east coast you headed to?

Ohio is awesome, as long as you stay away from the dark.

PA for a family reunion, then DC. My mother-in-law passed away back in April, and she will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband, a colonel in the Marine Corps. We drove out to DC last summer, so we’re hoping to see some of what we missed on the first trip.

I few of my friends and I’ll hopefully be going on a little, week-long “expedition” in western North Carolina this summer. Certainly no 3,000 mile journey though.

Sorry for the loss; hope you enjoy your trip! DC is a nice place to visit

August could see me tripping off to Minnesota, Nevada, or both.

We almost always take a few. First one I know of is to Chicago at the end of the month.

My wife and I are originally from Norfolk, so trips to DC were pretty common. My boys had a great time last summer, so they’re excited to go back.

Great city. I lived there for a few years of my youth. The Hawks are starting to make me nervous....

I wish our drive to DC were going to be that short.

Nothing that serious, but the wife and I will drive from Michigan to Nashville, TN over labor day to see some friends and some concerts (Widespread Panic, wooooooooooooo!!!!!!!). Should be a nice drive through the Appalachians.

I did just over 4000mi to Oregon this March and am going to do 2500 going to Arizona in July.

Sounds nice, though I don’t envy you the drive across IN.

Now I’m jealous. About 15 years ago my wife and I flew to Paris, then rented a car and drove up to Normandy, over to Strasbourg and then on to Munich. I’d do a trip like that again tomorrow if I could. Have fun!

I lived in IN for three years and I envy nothing about being in that godforsaken state.

Very possibly. 505Turbeaux needs another pair of drunk - I mean hands - looking at a derelict car stash, and I’m also considering hitting up the air museum in Dayton.

Just got back a week and a half ago from road tripping in the UK some, too.

Ever driven across Arkansas? Or Alabama? They don’t have much going for them either.

I used to do a long road trip to GA or SC once a year. Its a bit harder with the 18 month daughter but soon the trips will start up again. Mostly relegated to 2-3 hours each way now.

I drove from Charleston SC to Denver Colorado when I was in college. Kansas is terrible.

A few friends and I are planning a top gear style road trip to Vegas. $600 cars, an autocross and a rallycross along the way, should be a good time. Personally, I’ve been eyeing a certain 1979 Mustang Turbo that popped up on craigslist, but it’ll probably get away from me before I get the chance to go see it.

My gf is coming to visit me and basically as soon as she gets here, we’re going to road trip to Minnesota to visit my family.

One trip down - Baton Rouge to Harlingen, 1,200 miles round trip.

Kinja'd!!!

Next trip this summer is for a Scout camp - Baton Rouge to Fayetteville, another 1,200 miles round trip.

Kinja'd!!!

I started a draft of one epic trip from my youth, but haven’t finished it yet. We spent three weeks on the road and drove over 5,000 miles....

I’m flying with a 16 month old who hates sitting still longer than 20 seconds. I have 4 flights each way and layovers to chase hin around in an airport in a foreign country. The end game is fun, but the means will keep me asking for more liquor on the plane

I have flown with a child that age. Luckily, he slept much of the way, and the flights weren’t more than a couple hours each. You just have to do your best to entertain the kids. It’s tough. Good luck. Also, I always try to have extra time between flights for the kids to run around and blow off some steam. Tight connections are great for adults, not so much for kids.

Just got back from a bit of a trip to Montreal. Only ~ 1000 miles round trip so not quite the journey you’re doing but it was still a long drive (750km yesterday and last Wednesday).

Heading to my sister-in-law’s family’s ranch in middle-of-nowhere Colorado in a couple weeks. Can’t wait!

Omaha, NE. It's a long drive but both coasts are about just as far away.

Hey! That’s the 8th wonder of the world! Only hole above ground.

(I like Cleveland - really. But being a WI and MN person originally, had to chime in.)

You done the road trip with girlfriend before? If so, booyah. If not, just a word in your ear and nothing else: can be stressful, channel your future self as a supportive partner.

Almost killed my current 35 year relationship on an early road trip.

I like things about Cleveland and I would probably like it better if I had never lived there.

I have not been on a road trip with this particular lady before. I had done one with a previous gf but that relationship ended for other reasons.
