FCAs simulation models indicate testing at full throttle would result in this.

Sure, there may be no replacement for displacement, but that doesn’t mean we won’t want positive displacement, amirite?

Rather than asking why shouldn’t, we should do it anyway

It will be awesome for the short time that the planet survives

Just out of curiousity, what if the next viper went twin-turbo V8 instead of NA V10? Would people riot or welcome the change?

There were rumors of supercharged V10s but nothing about that for a while :/ …. probably because there just isn’t room.

Riot. Turbo is awesome, but NA all the way.

Is it wrong of me that I have a fantasy that they will make a Maserati Granturismo Hellcat? You know, with Ferrari being spun off and all...

Getting rid of the V10 would be the real crime there, it just wouldn’t be a Viper without it.

I would personally riot, but in a sophisticated way.

Yup. Feel free to bring a tt v6, but yeah don’t mess with what you have. It ls not like they are making a corvette or 911.

could people riot at all if the Viper even made it to another generation after how terribly its been selling?

The simulations are inaccurate, they don’t allow for the Viper’s 2WD inability to put all that power down. The more likely scenario is we will see spontaneous ignition of the USA starting at Detroit, with an accompanying reduction in atmospheric oxygen due to burning rubber. This will prevent Peak Viper being achieved and the earth being destroyed, but will lead to a collapse of the ecosystem and of human and animal population.

Until at last, only a lone Road Warrior remains, in the depths of outback Australia, as has been foretold .

Why bother? The Viper is inarguably the worst overall car in its class, they don’t sell, and they get terrible press for a reason. They are terribly dated and they have an engine that was high tech in 1974. It’s just an old LA V8 with two cylinders tacked on. When I saw the first Viper unveiled at the NAIAS when I was a wee boy I thought it was the coolest thing ever, now the car is very “meh” the styling got worse each and every year and the price just kept going up for a car that is barely faster (when driven by mortals) than a Z51 Corvette. I’ll grant FCA that the Viper ACR is stupid fast around a track, but I’d guess if anyone from oppo tried to run a hot lap, no one would make it back without crashing. They were so busy building the fastest car they could with bargain off the shelf parts that they did not build a “good” car.

Riot. The Viper is defined by that engine.

Now, twin-turbo V10 pushing out properly ludicrous power... THAT would be worthwhile.
