Car bras, those foul, vinyl BDSM masks picked up for $20 at pep Boys (or if you are a southerner - AutoZone). They have adorned many 90s era metal in a vain attempt to protect the paint and bumper from rock chips. Well, never before have I seen one on a V12 German GT car. No. I never thought they were cool. They’re a sure way to ruin your paint worse than the stone chips they’re supposed to protect against if you get road dust or something else abrasive in between them and your paint, or even just if they aren’t properly adjusted AT ALL TIMES.

Definitely rocked a bra on the Stringbean for a while. I liked the black that it added to the front. But then I clean and oil it so it was super black and shiny. Basically my car looked like a greasy gimp.

Im actually torn, seeing just how many damn stone chips i have on the front of mine, it’s tempting... or just go back to the raw plastic bumper again, lol. Start all the compromises for saving work!

Everyone that I knew back then used “The Bra” only to hide body damage. Once they saved enough to fix the car that crap was binned quick.

I think it was only a certain subgroup that thought they were cool, I was never in it.

I just never understood the point of protecting something, if protecting it means you can never see it - like covering hardwood floors with wall-to-wall carpeting.

Also, car bras completely fail at the whole protection thing anyway.

This weekend I saw a Nissan Cube with a bra on it. I was amazed that not only are they still making them for new cars, but that someone willingly bought an installed one in the last few years.

EDIT: Holey Crap, it is a dealer option!
