I hate people who take ford bodies and shove LS motors in them. Ford has plenty of great crate motors including the 5.0L Coyote. Use one of those

if you want to run a full hood on your early ford you can’t run a 5.0 coyote. They are just too wide in the front. There is not much real estate up front. The small block chevy in my 33 ford pickup is pretty much as big as you can go without recessing the firewall(required on all OHV ford V8s).

Would have to push the firewall back and run no hood sides or add blisters. really the original flathead or small block chevy are the only motors that will fit in a 32-39 without doing sheetmetal work. Even fords up to around 1951 will have to have the firewall recessed to fit a non flathead ford motor in it

Yeah I never understood it but I believe I have read somewhere that the engineers on the 265 (first small block Chevy in 55) actually took into consideration the engine compartment of a 32 ford
