According to Reddit, they had their learner’s permit. So probably not the most experienced behind the wheel.

My favorite part my be that if he had just backed up straight he would have ended up in a lane with no one in it, instead he turned into a guy in a different lane.

True, but that means there were two people in the car. One of which is new to the road, but the other of which is supposed to look out for them while they learn.

It’s funny how I’m seeing this post immediately after witnessing a hit-and-run where someone backed into a parked car. (Don’t worry, I got his plate number and it’s been sent to the police)

Assholes like this are the reason the feds are requiring cars to have backup cameras. Can’t fix the driver so they have to “fix” the car

I applaud the cyclist self-control. Not only was he able to get off the bike and out of the way before being run over himself, but he was able to stop himself from forcibly dragging the driver out of the car and beating them within an inch of their life (which I might have done).

I can’t stop watching this. I just can’t imagine how daft someone has to be to accomplish this. Comes to a complete stop (thanks to the motorcycle on the ground acting as a chock), then continues to back up. Permit or not, this person needs to be on moped duty for a few years. That would go a long way in teaching her how to not panic in such trivial situations.

I didn’t say anything about murdering them. They could go on to lead a full and content life without having a driver’s license. The roads would certainly be safer for it.

Oh Tohru, I feel just dreadful about this argument which I’ll admit I started. I had to go and get all literal and analytical about your original comment when you were clearly not being literal. Which was an asshole move on my part. And for which I apologize. And I tend to get defensive when my Honda comes under fire, and perhaps I said some cruel things I shouldn’t have. Now sure I like imports and it appears you’re a domestic fan, but we’re both car enthusiasts and above that both Wisconsinites. And I’d much prefer that we be friends rather than enemies. So can you forgive me for being a hypocrite by acting like a 12 year old while I was accusing you of doing so? I’d sure be pleased.
