San Luis Obispo Concours D'Elegance In Photos, Part 1

The SLO Concours d’Elegance was held at the Madonna Inn Expo Center last weekend, and I was asked at the last minute to judge the non-Beetle VW class with a friend who owns another Euro shop here. Needless to say, I accepted. Cadillac and VW were featured marques this year, and there was great turnout for both, including a trio of stunning V16s. After our judging duties were done, I had some time to walk around and take in the show, so I wanted to share the pictures. It was an eclectic event, with many cars just on display, not being judged. There’s something here for everyone.

Note: I tried to finish a more detailed version of this, with photos grouped more sensibly, car IDs, background, and 27 8X10 glossy color photographs with a paragraph on the back of each one, but Kinja ate that several times, so this is now just a tremendous photodump. Seriously, it’s huge. I’ll do best to answer any questions in the comments, and there will be a second part shortly. Enjoy!

Oh yeah, we don’t have a problem putting a group together. That’s my buddy Devin’s ‘52 “Zwitter” Bug, a 6-month production model. I had to hot wire it to get him home, that’s the wire picture.

I was wondering about that wire! That’s a super-nice splitty. I saw a 51 or a 52 putt-putting around town here the other day and I just about drove off the road. There’s not many of those left.

It’s super clean, for sure. He bought it basically as it sits, and it’s stock except for the static drop. He also owns the slammed 21-window bus in the pics.
