Fourza Le Mans 2015: Final Plan And Official Sign Up Post (UPDATED)

By now, you have probably seen my posts with the initial plan for our Le Mans race this year, complete with polls that you all participated in. Well, the results are in and the final plan has been created. In this post, I have all of the specifics, including time and eligible cars, for this race. You can also begin to sign up for the race in this post.

THE TIME

The race will be held at 4:30 PM eastern US time on Sunday, June 14th. The voting for a date was pretty spread out. I realize that everyone has their own time that would work best, but a final decision had to be made, and I’m sorry if you won’t be able to make the race on this day. However, if this date is problematic for a large amount of people, the date can be moved, but I would like to avoid this scenario if possible.

THE RACE

The race will be on Le Mans Full and will be run endurance style for 2.4 hours. This is going to be a long race, but it will be handled the same way as any of our other races. Drive like you are in an actual race, and not an online public matchmaking lobby, and you will be fine. If you are new to racing with us or need a refresher, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! If you follow those guidelines, you will be just fine in the race. In terms of assists and lobby setup, damage will be set to cosmetic, collisions will be set to default, and all assists are allowed. That way a crash, tire wear, or a bit of lag won’t end your race. Also, while all assists are allowed, many of us use very few of them, mostly limited to driving line, manual without clutch, and the occasional ABS. Just something to keep in mind.

THE CARS

We will be racing GT and LMP cars for this race. There will be a set PI for each class that you must match. I understand that this is different than what we have done for the last two series, but the voting called for matching PI, and trying to match lap times in either of these types of cars would be too difficult. Since we are running two different classes, I want to make my own notes about driving etiquette. GT cars should ALWAYS yield to LMP cars. The LMP cars are much faster and being scored separately, so being lapped by one will not affect your position or score if you are in a GT car. Also, if you are racing an LMP car, it is highly encouraged that you have a mic so you can warn GT drivers how and when you are going to pass. I usually don’t race with a mic in (hence the nickname “Silent Bob”), but since I’m going to be racing an LMP car, I will have a mic in for this race. I recommend that you do the same, regardless of what car you are driving. One last note about the cars. To make the field more diverse and for better pictures, custom made or storefront paint jobs, and unique numbers for each driver are highly encouraged. It may be too difficult to organize everyone having their own number, but try and give your car a unique paint job to help it stand out.

CAR LIST

Listed below are the cars that are eligible for both classes. At the top of each section next to the name of the class is the PI that the cars must match or get as close as possible to without going over (I only say this because I know the Z4 maxes out at R3 795 and there may be other cars that get close but don’t match). Listed next to each car is their initial PI and the DLC they are a part of, if applicable. If it is not listed, it is not eligible for the race. However, if you think I forgot a car or want to plead a car’s case, leave a comment on this post on why you think that car should be included. Also, no aspiration, drivetrain, or engine swaps are allowed.

UPDATE: I realized there was no Aston Martin in the GT class, so I did some testing on the DBR9, and figured out that it can get into the R3 class and be equal with the other cars if drag tires are used (the extra tire wear on drag tires isn’t an issue since we are running cosmetic damage). So, I have decided that both Aston Martin DBR9s are now eligible for the GT class so long as they are on drag tires and match the PI of the other GT cars.

On the subject of drag tires, I want to say that they are highly discouraged on all cars other than the DBR9. I know it’s Le Mans and you want to get as much power out of the car as possible, but don’t use drag tires to get the maximum restriction removal or improve acceleration. It will be unfair to slower cars with race tires, and the handling downgrade would probably decrease your lap times even if you have more power.

I recommend the 458. Got me through the GT series. Just don't put an AF Corse livery on it unless you want every LMP crash to magically become your fault.

A lot of people are tuning up cars for both classes and saying they’ll run whichever has less people. I’m doing that. I’ve been testing out all the LMP cars, but I have some GT cars lined up too. I’d rather race LMP, but I’ll race GT if need be. Why don’t you race LMP?

Good. I remember racing you, and it was good. Might change up to a bimmer.

I tested one last night, and it was even with the other cars, but I'm not going to allow it. I have visions of people running it on street or sport tires and having a big horsepower and speed advantage. If there was a way to restrict what tires are used, I'd allow it.

I’m planning on running the 458, but it’s too understeery for me right now. Which BMW were you planning on running?

I should also note that the one I tested was hitting 195 with max downforce, so it may be too fast with the proper tuning even when it is on race tires.

Out of the three possible areas of work at my theater (concessions, box office, ushering [kicking underage kids out, finding money under seats, and occasionally some half-assed cleaning]) I’m scheduled as an usher, which is probably everyone’s favorite. No. They were banned last year too. I think they got banned last year because they were too fast, like the 911 GT3 Cups. To be honest though, I don’t remember the exact reason they got banned. I just didn’t include them this year because they weren’t allowed last year. There was definitely a legitimate reason, though.

Also, a couple thoughts... There should be a rule against Asantis and stuff like that. No aftermarket wheels that initially lower the PI, or something similar. And, though I’ll have a mic, I think that if someone in an LMP car is racing without one, GT drivers shouldn’t be held responsible for a collision between the two. Neither should the LMP driver, though, since he needs to pass somehow, but if a GT car is able to pass another due to it being hit by a passing mic-less LMP car, he should slow down to allow that one to keep its position. Just my two cents.

I’ve a busy weekend, but I’ll do my best to make it. I’m in the club garage already and my GT is ‘Desu San Desu’, as you well know.

I’m not sure what I’ll be running yet, as I haven’t had time to tune anything and may still not have time. If that’s the case, I’ll probably run the Impreza or Yokohama Gallardo.

Since im racing LMP, is there anyone who wants to run my Esperante? It just wouldnt be right if that car doesnt run.

Shouldn’t be an issue since they only bring PI down by at most 4; the way the PI system works on all GT cars means you wouldn’t be able to add the second restrictor upgrade without drag tires (which aren’t allowed anyways) so you’d be at a huge disadvantage even with the extra power.

Corey has the final say on this obviously but I think what we’ll do is just what we did during the Trans-Am season and just have the car that caused the crash wait until the other one gets back on track and in front as a penalty of sorts, no need to start impede someone else’s race when they weren’t even involved.
