For an “unreliable” German sports sedan.

Kinja'd!!!

Here’s to another 100,000 or more. It will make it to 200k in my hands.

The best part about ze Germans is, even if everything is worn out and falling apart they will soldier on.

*looks at laundry list of shit wrong with my E46*

*weeps*

Rear shocks, front brakes, exhaust seals, doors seals, quarter window seals, headlight covers, steering rack (probably), down stream O2 sensor, etc....

Oh Lordy. That's quite the list. Looked like mine when I first got hold of the car.

If it’s that much of an issue, take the van.

I know high mileage German sedans have relatively well earned reputations, but it also seems that a car driven more rewards more. Case in point is my dad with a 2009 328i with 186,000 miles on it (300k+ km) and has to do very little in maintenance besides wear items. Best of luck getting to 200k!

My issue is that I’ve had this one for over two years haha.

Many have always said this gauge was useless. But I’ve seen it in action and I rather like it.

Mine actually seems pretty accurate. I like watching the needle drop off when I floor it though!

Is this a sticker? Looks like an afterthought. It may look bad, but at least you see it everyday and remember to fuel up with high octane.

It's a sticker, which I think was supposed to be removed by the first owner. I just keep them because they don't bother me.

The list on my E46 is pretty long as well...

But mostly self-inflicted.

Make sure to replace the water pump, it’s a common failure point which can lead to overheating!

S54 is going back in. Need to do some body work (basically the entire strut tower on the passenger side gets replaced) and freshen up the motor (all new bearings).

Assuming this is an M3, or are you doing an S54 swap?

Yup, 2001 M3. Motor had to come out to do the bodywork. And makes some of the other work easier.

Building the car for NASA GTS3. Basically going to look like this, but silver (even the same Apex wheels):

Sounds pretty damn cool. All I’ve done with my fun car is watch it leak various fluids all over my garage. sigh .

Mine has been sitting outside, acting as a spider sanctuary for the last 8 months, so it will still be a while before I get to play with it. Now that the motor is out I have more pieces to strip off, lots of unused wiring to sort through, the body to get repaired, cage to install, suspension to redo, engine to refresh, engine to put back in, and so many expensive parts to buy (like this $800 shifter).

I can’t wait until I get a fuck-off car to play with. Or at least room for another tinker toy.
