My father was a truck driver for quite a few years until an accident(not his fault) forced him into early retirement. He loved it. Truck driving not Pepsi.

I think driving that Pepsi truck looks like a great job. The truck is the perfect size and configuration to be fun and maneuverable. I enjoy people and would enjoy visiting different convenience stores and giving people a hard time.

And I like Pepsi. I’d never consider driving a Coca Cola truck.

I’d quit tomorrow and do it if I could afford to. I’ll be working on the Class A commercial driver’s license this summer. Read the manual for the written, then I have a friend with many vehicles we can choose from to take the driving portion. The truck in the picture is the perfect size. They work four tens — every weekend is a three-dayer — with OT almost daily, and make $25/hr. Nice retirement supplement if you’re up to the physicality of it. My theory is that they won’t leave me in the truck but a year or two before I move to management.

That is one of those jobs I would like for a month. I bet it gets old quickly though. I like the idea that they fill your truck and when you finish your rounds you are done. If you work harder then you get done faster (or at least I assume it works that way. That is how FedEx works so I’ve been told by a teacher who’s husband was a FedEx driver.... That is a lot of second hand info and assumptions....)

Your assumptions seem more than reasonable. I’d be trading one union job for another. Unions make mediocre automatons out of most workers, poor automatons out of others, and generally do little to make anyone want to be excellent.

I worked in a Pepsi bottling plant for a summer, the delivery guys were the glam boys of the business, they actually cared how they looked and got decent pay for their work. I couldn’t drink a Pepsi for 3 years after that job. Not because anything we did was gross, just because phosphoric acid is one of the main ingredients in cola. Squirt was the only product I could drink after than. I haven’t had a Mountain Dew since, that shit is gross.
