I watched an excellent episode on Frontline about the NRA. The thesis was that because of Bill Clinton and Al Gore going after the NRA, the NRA got active and Al Gore lost and gave us George W. Bush. Qty 8 years.

I’m not so sure garbage like this was even around with sufficient numbers until after we wrecked it. This crap is the result of a power vacuum, a power vacuum that didn’t exist when Saddam and the Taliban were major forces.

The USA excels at creating power vacuums and then failing to fill them with the right players. We have a knack for always putting despicable, weak slime-balls in charge, who then turn around and rape their populations for all they are worth before bailing on or dying in a justifiable revolution.

It would also be less of a cluster-fuck if the USA would listen to the people in these countries and not its own pockets. Same shit happened in Afghanistan in the ‘80s; USA helps them knock out the USSR invasion, but then packs up and leaves without helping the Afghani people rebuild. Or how about Syria and Libya today? They beg and plead for US aid against bad regimes, and the USA says no. Then the militant radicals see an opening and, as the only ones saying yes and having results, they get power.

It’s stupid, it’s politics.
