So there is this guy on my local Craigslist who has been looking for an AMD HD7950 or 7970 for the past month. He has been reposting it EVERY DAY. A couple of days ago I emailed him about it and told him I had one that I would sell.
Of course he doesn’t get back to me for a few more days, but then he is like “Oh, $150 is too high” and I was like “Okay, does $125 sound better?”. He doesn’t respond -_-
Fast forward to last night. I get in contact with him again. This time I tell him I would sell it for $100 (the same price I paid for it, a fucking deal if I ever saw one) and he is like “Oh, there was one for sale, an HD7 8 50 for like $70. That must have been the one that you bought. Why are you trying to rip me off?”
I tell him several times that I have a 7950, but he then tells me that that was what he said (even though I have previous emails with him saying 7850?) then he tries to lowball me with a $50 offer... to which I tell him to check prices on Amazon and eBay for used ones (low end is $140-50, mid range is around $175) before lowballing me again. At this point he just starts being a jackass and I respond with:
because I was trying to give him a good deal on a great card... but he was an asshole
.
.
Then it gets even more complicated...

I mean, shit. A 7850 for $70 isn’t bad. Those are overclock monsters.

Ugh... the guy is a dumbass for not taking the $100 deal
for real though, check out the prices of the cards! They are relatively cheap for how good they are!

Flagged brudda.

I want to know why if the $70 7950 was real why he didn’t buy it -_-
that was why I was really skeptical of his claims
But yeah, the 7850 is basically an R7 265, which punch WAY above their price class

I flagged it this morning too...

because lowlife lowballer who is too dumb to buy the $70 7950 (which never existed BTW, I check CL every few hours and he said it was on there for 2 months)

I stopped giving a shit about computer hardware a decade ago.

:( why?

I stopped caring about gaming. I don’t need a big ass video card to listen to itunes, browse the interwebs and play Nintendo emulators. I’m using the video card built into my motherboard.

You should contact him from another email address, tell him that’s a score and you’d give him $100 for it, when can you meet up. Then don’t show up and ignore his emails.

I had a co-worker try a similar thing with me. He lamented his machine wasn’t working because he lacked Matched sticks of DDR3. I happened to have 2 sticks of DDR3 from an older build. They aren’t great sticks, but they will at least get his machine running.
I bring them in and offer them for $20. He tries to haggle with me saying it is cheaper on Amazon, which it sends me a link for Single sticks, not matched sticks. I explain the different and he seems to come around, then manages to find another set for cheaper than $20 on Amazon. He offers me basically the price of a cheap price of coffee. At this point I don’t care. It wasn’t about the money, just trying to help him out since he obviously needed a hand. I tell him to order it on Amazon and I take the sticks home with me and throw them in a bin (Where they still are).
Of course he doesn’t order those sticks. His computer continues to not work for weeks that turn into months, but when he starts complaining I shut him down.

I guess that is true...

“But brah, 7950 > 7850 brah”
You can double the performance of a 7850 through overclocking, I had two of them linked together with a bigass cooling fan blowing through the rig to keep them cool back in my cryptocurrency mining days.

Yeah... fuck this guy. I really want to sell this and I’m actually regretting buying it now :/
I’m trying to save up $500 to get a set of coilovers for the sporty wagon (Solo Werks S1)

lol and this card has never been mined with either! It is a really good card!

“I saw one for $X amount” is a classic idiot negotiating technique. Either then cheaper one never existed(most likely), or they didn’t jump on it and have been kicking themselves since. Anyone who pulls that on me gets a “then buy that one” and I block them and stop talking to them. No time for that BS.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 13:33 |

Or pretend you want it and start negotiating with him by cutting & pasting his exact words. See how long it takes for him to figure it out.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 13:35 |

Never existed. I check CL every few hours and it was never there (cause I would have bought it lol)
![]() 06/02/2015 at 13:35 |

OH GOD THAT WOULD BE PERFECT! But I’ll have to wait...

“Oh, there was one for sale, an HD7
8
50 for like $70. That must have been the one that you bought. Why are you trying to rip me off?”
‘Then maybe he should just go and buy that one that is on sale... jackass!’
And then flag all his dumb posts.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 17:16 |

Yeah... some people are just whiners who want everything for nothing. Fuck ‘em.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 17:19 |

I flagged the fake post... IDK why he made it though :/

Me neither, but it would make a great story!
