Remember when car companies used to think that Americans loves connected taillights that spanned across the trunk? Sure, Europeans got the boring 2 light design, but that wasn’t good enough for us.
Then of course you have the Aurora and Sable, etc. Personally I’m glad Dodge is bringing back the single taillight.

Wrap-around taillights just look good altogether.

If you do them right, single tail lights can look awesome. Dodge does them better than any other American company does.

How in the hell do you mention full-width tail lights without mentioning Buick? That was one of their trademark design features!

I still maintain to this day that the 1970-1971 Torino GT did it best.

I was just about to mention the NSX. Some of the best looking wrap around/full width taillights ever designed.

Honda’s done some pretty good ones, too.
First generation Honda/Acura Legend (Best image I could find, even though there’s rust)
Sixth generation Honda Accord Coupe
Honda CR-X
And it’s not just Honda, either. Other non-American brands have made some pretty good ones.
Early 90’s Alfa Romeo Spider
Porsche 924 (ugly bumper, nice lights)
Most people don’t like these, but I think the Nissan Cube has some cool lights in the back.
Suzuki Cervo (Yep, that’s a kei car)
Mazda 323F
And who can forget the first two generations of Mitsubishi Eclipse?

Definitely one of my favorite automotive design elements. You can never have wide enough taillights. Uuuuuhhhh
Also I cannot believe that Oldsmobile decided to not let the center section of the 1st gen Aurora taillight light up. It would have been the icing on the cake. Thankfully people figured out a way out to convert them to properly working units.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Mixed feelings on this. I don’t mind the look.
It doesn’t rust so that’s a plus.
Does it result in more rust on underlying metal? That’d be a downside but I imagine that’s design dependent.
