Over Memorial Day weekend, my grandfather, father, and I made a trip out to The Swigart Museum in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. The collection on display is located on U.S. 22, in a small, fairly nondescript building. The building may be on the small side, but the collection itself is anything but dull.
The Swigart Museum has two Tuckers, Production #1013 (Silver) and the “Tin Goose” Prototype (Maroon) as their centerpieces. Those who know the story of the Tucker know all about the troubled premiere and prototype. While the “Tin Goose” does not contain the original drivetrain, it is the only complete Tucker with the “Rubber Disc” prototype suspension.
Production #1013 is significantly more polished, which is to be expected. Having the two side by side presents an excellent opportunity to compare the various changes made to the trim and other details.
The hood was raised on Production #1013, too, allowing a great view of the engine.
Other interesting vehicles included this 1920 Carol, believed to be the only one in existence.
There was also a Harley Davidson Topper...
...and a DeLorean...
...and this 1929 Duesenberg Model J Victoria...
...and this Fiat Jolly and Herbie...
...and this 1936 Duesenberg Prototype Gentleman’s Speedster...
...and this 1937 Cord 812 Sportsman Phaeton.

Hello, Beautiful.
This line has a lot of the same design cues as the contemporary Lincoln, like Jarod Rose’s.

Thanks for coming through on those Tuckers. I’ve got to see another one sometime, the last I actually saw was at Blackhawk over 20 years ago.

Somehow I didn’t grab a picture of it. It was all original and had Washington State Plates on it.

I thought you would like them.
I’ve seen 6 in the last 5 months (Hershey, Henry Ford, and Swigart), and I can tell you, it doesn’t get old looking at them.

Looks like an awesome place. We’re going to be in PA for vacation this summer, but we probably won’t get up there, though it’s not far. I’ll be attending a family reunion in Somerset. Then we’re heading south to DC.

That sounds like fun.
