I certainly will. I bought a laptop nearly two years ago and I’ve only used it two dozen times as I hate Windows 8 (later 8.1).

I will be. I’m seriously considering a win phone as well to go with it, as my phone is heavily aged now.

Haven’t had the prompt on my laptop, not sure if my old desktop can handle 10.

apparently Win 10 is the most lightweight windows for quite some time so ancient machines should be able to run it

Two people at my job bought windows phones. One or both of them openly lament the decision at least once a week.

Well, as long as you have Windows 7, 8 or 8.1.

Technically, everyone is getting Windows 10. It’s a free upgrade for anyone with Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1.

Already have it ... some issues right now but I prefer it over W8.1 and use it as my daily on my HTPC and Surface Pro 3

Maybe a possibility for the desktop.

It was great for two years, but my work has some apps that are nice to have but are Android/iOS only... I’m feeling it now :(

OK but is this just general stupidity and unwillingness for change? Or is it actually that bad for them? I have a few friends who absolutely love it.

Similar to people hating win8. If one were open minded and not terrible with technology, it’s actually a great OS.

So, as hardware itself, a lot of the windows phone are fantastic. The problem is the development that goes into Android and iOS apps and the utter dearth of good Windows mobile phone apps. It’s also just not as stable. Their phones crash and restart on them constantly (my iPhones have completely crashed, meaning needed a restart to work correctly, maybe twice in the past 4 years). One of them has an HTC, the other a Nokia Lumia, both fully regret it on every level. Even the cameras don’t take as good as photo and video, even if they are higher resolution.

If you don’t need all those apps and stability, then you’re fine, but you may not need at smart phone at all at that point, right?

That’s fair.

In terms of apps and shit, anything I would need would be available. I rarely use my phone for leisure other than web browsing. The rest that I need in a smart phone is the synced calendar, VPN stuff, e-mail, etc. There’s not a whole lot more I use it for, though that could be because it is so old I don’t bother any more.

I know this isn’t an earth shattering insight, but just IMO, the iPhone is far and a away the best device. Not on paper, it just is. I use apples at work and actually choose to use a PC at home. I’m no fanboy, but in 2015 and for the foreseeable future, the iPhone is just the best thing going.

I actually dislike the iPhone quite a bit. I can’t stand apple UI tbh, mobile or desktop. I’m definitely in the android vs WP boat.

I had to help a guy at work with his iPad and the damn thing is a nightmare to use.

Well I am using in the Insider Program. It has been a bit buggy on some hardware. A lot of people will like the Start menu makes a return, but it can be turned into a full screen start if you want more Windows 8 looks. No swipe to get to all apps, they are on the left side of start, almost like All Programs. Cortana can be nice, though IMO a bit gimmicky. If you have a 2 in 1 such as the Asus Transformer or the Surface line, the device will do a nice job of switching between Computer Mode and Tablet Mode. Tablet Mode drops the colors down to conserve battery and be less harsh as well as making the Start Menu full screen and can hide app icons on the taskbar, if you choose. It is designed to make the interface more touch friendly. You can have it switch modes automatically, prompt you, or never switch or prompt unless you do it.

I really like it and they have made great strides with many of the MS MUI apps. They are supposed to be pushing a lot of new builds for us to test up to release day. Benefit of doing the release electronically is they don’t need to have the final build compiled until basically day of.
