Mountain Air Metallic, and how my wife sees cars.

Kinja'd!!!

So my wife are I are planning on replacing her 01 Crapvalier before winter. We’ve been talking about options, driving thru lots, and I keep trying to get her to test drive cars, so we can either say “that’s not a option”, or “thats a serious contender”. My wife like most non enthusiasts puts color are about he same importance level as budget. let me put it this way; I’ll ask my wife “do you like the way that car looks?” and her response will be “I don’t know I don’t like the color.” Which I find infuriating. lol. So basically whether she finds a car attractive or not relies soully on the color.

Here’s the problem We had been looking at Fits, Sparks(we both just kinda like them more than the Sonic), Focuses and the like. But she LOVES this olor that the 2014-2015 CRVs come in.

The problem is for one a nicely equipped FWD CRV is out of budget, which means for her to get one it’s be a base with steel wheels. I refuse to drop 22-23,000 dollars and end up with steel freaking wheels. No, no nope hell no. Also the color is WAAAAAAAAAAAY to common for what should be un-common. on a one hour dive today I noticed 4 of them.

So hopeful I can still talk her into a Passion Berry Pearl Fit EX. Then we’d get a few bell and whistles, better MPGs, and overall a much more sensible vehicle for our needs. But all of this would be avoided if Honda would just offer the Mountain Air Metallic color on the fit aswell.

If not it’ll be a Candy Blue Focus hatchback.

What a coincidence. My wife and I are entering the market for possibly a Fit, Focus, or small CUV, although in our case we are looking for ones that are a little more on the... used side. But she, too, is particular about the color of what the car will be.

If you want an infuriating infotainment system, get a Honda.

I’m going to try to avoid a car with a screen in the dash entirely.

We’ll more than likely end up going used, but I’m kind pushing for the new Fit tho as I’ve heard it’s that much better than the second gen. I’m interested in the HRV as well, and the CX3. Mazda3s are another option. And a Subaru VX Crosstrek, mainly because she adores driving her sister’s 03 Forester that would have to be used as well tho. 22,000 is like the tippy top scary zone, of out budget. But I want to get her something great, because she’ll keep it for 10 years, or more. She’s had her 2001 Cavalier for 6 years and a bit more than 70,000 miles now. She’ll be 24 this year, and it is her first and only car.

No, the Honda infotainment system is bad.

When I first met my wife, she was driving an ‘87 Cavalier. It was the opposite of fancy. It was amazingly reliable though.

My best friend just bought a 2015 Impreza hatch (effectively a lower Crosstrek) and I have to say, it is incredibly roomy and comfortable. Quiet. He wanted the new 3 at first but said the hatch space was really too small for his needs and I have to agree (he has two doggies).

Her cavalier has been very reliable as well actually. In the 3 years we’ve been married it’s need only new tired, front pads and rotors, and regular oil changes. The only reason she really wants to replace it now is that it’s really starting to rust, quite rapidly. it’s also needs some rear brake work done but that’s minor I’ll probly take care of that this week, they’re drums so I’m not going to do it, but I’d imagine it’ll still be less than 300 bucks.

I had the opposite problem (or not?) and have made 3 car purchases without my wife because of it. She’ll pretty much drive whatever as long as it has heated seats. This has included a Focus, Mustang, F-150 and Jetta TDI. Her opinion on all of them prior to purchase was “It’s nice.

I don’t think it’s that bad. I automatically hate all infotainment systems, and this is the first one I’ve ever used, but it’s livable. I usually just use the buttons on the steering wheel. Only thing I mess with is the radio anyway. I seriously have no idea what all information/shit it reports/does. Told the salesman during the walk-through to just show me the radio, fuck the rest.

I do enjoy my little LCD by the speedometer that tells me how much “powaaaaaaaaa!” I’m using.
