Afternoon Oppo! So as many of y’all know it’s been raining cats, dogs and horses here in Texas. I live in a part of the state that has remained unscathed from the flooding, but I know a lot y’all Texas Oppos don’t. And there are some of y’all I haven’t heard from in a while, so I’m starting to worry. So, to bricks, Uly and anyone in the flood zones throughout the state, please check in and leave a comment to let us know how you’re doing. Please let us know you’re ok.
If you guys/gals have been affected by the flooding, please let us know that, too, and how we can help you.

Also, for any Texas Oppos who wish to help flood victims in general, H-E-B has started one of their tear sheet campaigns, as well as donated $100,000 to the Red Cross. Tear sheets for donations in the amount of $1, $3 and $5 should be at check stands in stores across the state right now. More info on the tear sheet campaign can be !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
Also, the State Bar of Texas is offering legal help for those affected. Their press release can be read below:
State Bar offers hotline to help Texans affected by flooding, other severe weather
AUSTIN — The State Bar of Texas has established a legal hotline —
(800) 504-7030
— to help people find answers to basic legal questions and connect them with local legal aid providers following recent flooding and other severe weather in Texas.
The hotline — answered in English and Spanish — is designed to connect low-income persons affected by the disaster with local legal aid providers that can help with such issues as replacing lost documents, insurance questions, landlord-tenant issues, and consumer protection issues such as price-gouging and avoiding contractor scams in the rebuilding process.
Callers can leave a message at any time. People who qualify for assistance will be matched with Texas lawyers who have volunteered to provide free, limited legal help.
A partnership between the State Bar of Texas, Texas Young Lawyers Association, American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, local bar associations, and legal services providers throughout Texas is making a range of assistance available.

Glad you’re ok. Hope it stays that way. These rains have been extraordinarily deadly.

Truth. I saw the story about that 6 year old boy and felt so sad. Fortunately here (north central) it hasn’t been nearly as bad as further south, more of a nuisance. Nowhere near as bad as we had it in 07, when the lake came up 11-13 feet over the spillway, that was bad.

Thanks, but I am OK now. 1.2 inches was a bitch. Had to use the wipers.

We’ve been getting anywhere from 2-6 inches at a time where I live, but have only had localized flash flooding. Nothing like what’s going on in Houston and thereabouts. Glad to hear you’re safe. Thanks for checking in.

Flew out of Houston the day before the rain started. I’m home in Minnesota right now, but I’ll be beginning the hot rod power tour to bring the mustang to college station. Hopefully the rain and flooding is done by then.
