Poor vette.

Well, license plates were there before that Corvette was designed. Given the number of cars that can wear a plate well, I’d argue the designers of the Corvette did a poor job.

needs a reflective sticker across the front as a number plate.

That would be an improvement, still messes with the front of the car likes.

Well it was never really meant to be sold here and on a car with a front that low, it’d be near impossible to get a plate to look right.

true.
better than the crappy plasticky plates used in the UK.

Yep, they fall to bits after a couple years. This can have advantages though, the lamination peeled away on my Fiat’s plates, meaning a camera wouldn’t be able to read them.

License plates ruin the front of cars.
Luckily I live in one of the states that doesn’t require them.

Very true.
I’d love to remove mine. Even in US states that require front plates it’s better than here, our plates are 2-3 times the size.

First off, OP’s example doesn’t even meet legal, so that is NOT the designed position. As we all know, OEMs have no control over owners doing ugly (and illegal) shit to their vehicles.
Second, it’s really not that simple.
Look up the legal constraints on license plates across MULTIPLE regions: North America, EU, Middle East, Japan, etc. On top of the varying basic dimensions, there’s minimum ground height, max bend angle, required viewing angles, etc etc.
Often, the legal position and the prettiest position will not mesh, so you get OEMs and aftermarket selling “beauty covers” which sit in a better-looking vehicle position (probably nestled in that lower front grille for the C6) and juuuuust so happen to fit a license plate!
Now consider that any fastening provisions (for the legal front plate brackets) must be hidden for the US states and other regions that do not require front plates. You generally don’t style in an ugly flat bracket into a pointed front end because it will be hideous anywhere the plate is not required. Similarly, you don’t want to just leave holes with u-nuts or whatever in fascia surface to screw a plate directly on. Gross.
Now look up how low the Corvette is. That’s done for a reason, and it’s not just styling. Would you seriously consider raising the designed ride height for a prettier legal plate location?
Now guess how much front end air flow is required to cool that thing. Now guess how little drag is required to achieved target Vmax. The list of things that matter more than goddamn front plates looking pretty goes on and on.
Now, do you want a fuckin Corvette that can kick some Euro ass at a fraction of the price or do you want a car designed and engineered around optimal front license plate placement ? You have to have priorities, and the customer feedback is clear: performance comes first.

Doesn’t bother me. If someone wants to sell a car, they can go figure out how to fit number plates to it.
It’s unlikely to be rocket science.

Some cars just never suit them, even if there’s a place to mount them. The RX8 for example... Blocks most of the grille stock.
Or gets put on the bumper and looks rubbish.
Looks much better without.

Why aren’t plates like these standard? Looks great for a plate. I wish we had long ones like this in the US. I hate square plate.

I have no idea, maybe they don’t know they exist. You don’t want our plates, they’re huge, US ones are much better.

Well small like our, but linear like your would be great!

Looks like the Vette has a cold sore. Truly awful. I’m so happy Georgia does not require front plates.

Boo to front plates! Except Euro plates sometimes look cool right in the middle.

They don’t look terrible on some cars, still much prefer to not need them though.
