I love those Bonnevilles. My mom has a ‘65, and it’s so fun to drive, and it’s just all kinds of awesome.

I am back and forth on buying a solid 421 tripower ‘63 Catalina. Just have nowhere to put it right now. If I go for it I’m getting vanity plates that say WNEMXR just for fun.

Somebody in town here was out driving a slightly ratty 66 Tempest four-door on the weekend. Looked a lot like this, only more scum and bondo:

I would say go for it, if it’s a good price. My mom and stepdad paid $4500 for the Bonnie convertible in 2007. It was primered, had the 389 I believe, with a 3 speed auto, power brakes, power steering, HVAC, pretty loaded for the time. It still starts right up and runs. It had a fast paint job, but needs redone. Also needs a new top, tires and some reupholstering. But it is definitely very solid. It’s an absolute boat.

They sell for a lot more than $4500 now, and I’m sure a Catalina would probably follow similar pricing. There’s not many things more fun than driving a big land-yacht convertible. Though, to own and drive 60s American muscle (or any unique car) you’ve gotta love attention, as you’ll be getting lots of it.
