I love old work vehicles that are still chugging along decades after they were written off by their original owners. There’s a certain dignity and honesty that I love in simple old cars that continue to do their stated purpose long after anyone could have predicted and just won’t die. Usually when I see something like this, it’s a Toyota pickup with 400,000 miles or a Datsun, or something similar. It isn’t often that I spot one that if cleaned up would be considered a classic now and worth more than many new cars. This is one of them.

One of these days, I’m going to walk out, talk to the owner of one of these cars, buy it for chump change, and we’ll both walk away happy thinking we got a great deal. I love hardy little pieces of crap. They have so much more character than anything you can buy clean and it’s fun trying to figure out what the car’s story is and finding all of the battle scars.
