We have here 1 1986 Miami Something Something kit car based off a Corvette.
They want rid of it for 4K with a running motor but not much optimism on that.
Alleged $16k investment..
Corvette?
Researching the Things That Offend Italian Motormakers:
You say, “that front’s wrong’. They put it on there to not infringe That Company.
Elsewhere..
$1750 for a more correct front end.
Labor, parts. Chevy strata of affordability, with upgrades to make it work.
Now here’s the herring in the soup: The
origina
l fake Miami cars ended up in the area.
No, they didn’t blow it up. They blew something up but not the good one.
So good chance this kit was based on that, which Offends Italian Motormakers.
Imagination overwhelming competence and capacity to finish properly. Maybe the parts are in the trunk. The rest of the detailing can be done by expensive original parts or offensive ones.
Given that the cars used on that Miami-based tv show are owned and displayed 40 miles down the road, seems entirely plausible that this is one of the ‘unofficial’ copies, with the weird front so one does not confuse it with racers from Daytona.
Still, a kit. But Non-running examples of the same combo listing for $19,000. .
I should secure a loan or a stiff drink. And a build budget of 10k to get the details right.
Then 30k for the correct sound of prancing horses.
And a CD.

The “In the air tonight” scene is still great all these years later.

I’ve thought about buying an original McBurnie shell for a few grand a couple of years ago. I don’t care how shit the C3s are or that it’s a knockoff. If I can roll around at night pretending to be Crockett, it’s worth it.

I laughed at it for the longest time until I watched it. Then I got it. There’s a reason for it being such a stereotype now, and it’s because it’s
that good.
Michael Mann montages are awesome.

Correct. This is a collection of appearance and freedom to park at the mall. Would frame Cease and Desist letter from Italian company.
And at this point of desktop restoration speculation, re-engineering the chassis to a more decent level would not be out of the question. Not unlike when Wheeler Dealers bought the 2014 Morgan underpinnings for their vintage one.

I’d be so proud of receiving that letter.

Horrible idea:
1.) Buy Corvette knock-off Daytona clone.
2.) Buy V12 from a wrecked/burnt Ferrari 365 GT4, 400i, 412 or a Jaguar V12 from a E-series or XJS.
3.) Someone fit a European V12 into a Corvette and add equal-length headers with zero fucks given to muffle the noise.
4.) ????
5.) Daytona looks and V12 sounds without dropping 1 million dollars.

Yeah, I’m slowly working through the series again, on the “COZI” channel on FiOS.
While there’s cringe-worthy 80’s stuff going on a lot there’s still some great scenes and great writing. Not to mention the endless supply of 60’s-80’s cars that don’t seem very “out of place” in the scenes:

And some actors/actresses that got their starts or early career boosts on the show:

Few big ones:
Ed O’Neill, Ving Rhames, Ben Stiller, Bruce Willis, Steve Buscemi, Julia Roberts, Benico Del Toro, Liam Neeson, Lawrence Fishburne, Bill Paxton, Penn and Teller, Chris Rock

Yeah, it’s hit-or miss. Most are meh, some are awful, but when they’re good, they’re
really good.
If the pilot were released as a standalone movie in 1984, Miami Vice would not have the reputation it has today amongst people who don’t get it and just think of it as trashy 80s crap.

Pretty sure that by horrible, you mean amazing.

You totally nailed it.
Some episodes I just turned off as they were pretty unwatchable. Others were really good, mostly when the plot was very unpredictable.

Alas, the motor half of the plan would be substantial. Perhaps a 12-cylinder mechanical noisemaker, since everything else is a clone.
