“There’s no replacement for Positive displacement?” (Although, that’s wrong, too. Those are centrifugal superchargers, IIRC.)

I see no contradiction...displacement is a fundamental limitation on an engine, and FI acts like a multiplier but trades away linearity and powerband. x*Big > x*Small.
