2009 Buick Lucerne Super. 292hp 288 ft lb of torque delivered to the front wheels from an L37 Northstar V8. The blacked-out grille looks great. One of these or a LaCrosse Super (same engine) is definitely on my list as a car I’d like to daily.
I still think this is one of the best looking things to come from Buick.

LaCrosse Super is an LS motor though, not a Northstar....

The LaCrosse Super didn’t have the Northstar engine. It borrowed the 5.3 LS4 from the Grand Prix GXP.

You have an obsession with FWD landbarges.

Or more like, it IS a Grand Prix GXP.

IIRC these and the grand prix gxp were the same as the impala SS with the 5.3L V8, though the SS made more power.
They're pretty wretched.
The impala SSes I've driven feel nose-heavy, awkward, and fat, and not particularly fast around town. The GP GXP felt similar, though seemingly more composed and lighter on its feet, though that could have been the wheels and tires. On the highway they deliver power with a gradual surge rather than a rapid rush. Far from exciting.
For a FWD V8 sedan, the Volvo S80 is one of the few I'd consider, if any.

was the V8 offered in only FWd? I thought it was only offered with AWD, and the I6 had the option of FWD or AWD

I believe you are correct. I was mentally referencing a YouTube video of someone doing FWD burnouts with an S80 V8 and had apparently disconnected the rear drive components.
